  1. I think whomever has the most posts to CC.com should have their status changed from "Rope Lead" to "Spray Lord"... oh wait, no... that's been taken by someone else... how about "Climbing Guru". Jon? Tim? can we do this? Does anyone have any suggestions for a title? And just who is king at this moment? (My guess is Dru).
  2. I think Spay_Lard is just unhappy because his mama never loved him. Hmm... is Spay-Lard the same as Orifice-lots-o-Space? To those who want to party: Get rowdy!
  3. And doing this twice makes it twice as fast.

  5. Wierd Al Yank? Or, was that a KISW twisted tune specialty? [This message has been edited by Jman (edited 08-02-2001).]
  6. Yeah, you're probably right. Oh, Cavey?...
  7. quote: Originally posted by rafael: Funny: Now that usually ignored DDD is so popular it will be climbed more often, become very popular and later someone (else), unaware of these events, will bolt it! Wouldn't it only have become "so popular" because of this thread? So how would they be "unaware" of all of this... unless they're illiterate? 8. Is that "hole" or "whole"?
  9. LOL. Good call Jim! Uhh, uhh, wun. Uuuuh, d- too. Um, um... pappy, what done come after too?
  10. Aha, numerology. If you speak that language than 6 represents imperfection ("a man's number) and used 3 times (666) would be for emphasis making the number 666 stand for gross imperfection. But, contrary to what most believe, 666 is not the number of "Satan". If you read carefully you'll see Satan is the "dragon" that gives power to "the beast". Sorry to ruin your fun. Now, go back to reading AC's bio. Why is it called a 4 X 4? If it's a car is that a 4x2? And if it's front-wheel drive, does that make it a 2x4?
  11. I forgot about sleeping on your side... but no matter - I sleep on my stomach. "A couple trees"? I could understand one, but two? Have you considered joining the circus? Check out their website, if you haven't already: http://www.hennessyhammock.com/

  13. Not so sure about my literary skills, but I'll have a go at it.
  14. I think they are about $150 at REI. Seriously, though, at one point I was considering this as an alternative lightweight shelter. The things that really turned me off were: [1] As Will said, you have to be a back sleeper - I'm not. [2] Unless you're in the tropics, you DO need insulation under you (Hennessy recommends a space blanket, but that will rip right off with any significant wind). So you're back to carrying a pad - not much different than using a bivy bag on the ground. And [3] location requirements - you may find an ideal spot for the hammock which happens to be above ground that none of your buddy's could pitch a tent on, so you'll spend the night alone. Or, if you're above tree line, you may have nothing to hang it from. Unless you get claustrophobic, IMHO a bivy is much better in the alpine environment. And if there's more than one of you, a lightweight tent for 2 or 3 can be just as weight-economical as bivies (or hammocks) for each.
  15. 10 if you did your math right... but I see what your smokin' so I won't point that out.
  16. I hear they're very comfortable. Very lightweight, perfect for the alpine environment... it's just carrying those two damn trees that weighs my pack down.
  17. It's 666, not 6666. Maybe you just have a thpeech impediment like s-s-s-s-studdering (or in this case, a typing impediment)?
  18. Thanks for the clarification, Peter. Same here. "Nerves of steel, brains of mush"

    Rope

Got it, not sure if it's the "Discover" but same specs. Excellent choice for rope team of 2 or 3 (3 only if you tie into the ends with no excess - 4? forget it!). Make sure it's a "dry" rope. 30M is great to save on weight but makes for a tight team.
  21. I just was following PP's line of reasoning on the DDD thread and I actually understood it. Only noting it because I thought it was funny but it wasn't funny. I don't understand anything he says. No one here reasons on anything so I've stopped reading altogether.
  22. quote: Originally posted by Peter Puget: When in doubt consult tradition Interesting comment from someone who also said: "As a tradition its existense is at best tenuous... Why do we need it to be part of a climbing "tradition"? (Not that you made the original quote, or even live by it or whatnot)

  24. I see you've finally perfected the delicate and refined art of haiku. Good to see you're making fine use of that valuable time you've so diligently sought after.
  25. No need for Metro, Orifice-lot's-o-Space dishes out plenty for everyone. Big orifice = big turd [This message has been edited by Jman (edited 07-31-2001).]
