    Chat with Erik

Hey, what's up with the invite to chat? I hadn't even logged on yet, how did you know who I was? Were just sending an invite to everyone? ... i'm confused.
  3. So, umm... what sparked this shrewd and benevolent revelation?
  4. Life-Link does offer a lifetime warranty on their blades - if one ever does break, they'll replace it for free. But not much of a consolation if a buddy dies because you couldn't dig 'em out in time due to a cheap shovel, eh?
  5. If the guy was that clueless, I doubt he'll ever visit this website to see your post... too bad.
  6. Cool. I got their Chrysallis bivy last fall. The design works better for my sleeping habits - I'm a stomach sleeper, so I need ventilation by my face not on the back of my head. Best bivy I've owned (have tried 3 others).
  7. Cavey- If you buy direct from Integral, you pay the same but avoid all the taxes (there's shipping charges, of course, too but still less than what tax would be). And they have great customer service.
  8. payaso-If you plan on 'shoeing in the Cascades, go with the MSR's. I've had friends try others, including Tubbs and Atlas, and they had problems ranging from fit, deck material cracking, straps breaking, and poor traction (going uphill). The MSR's rock! Especially the Denali Ascents - "televators" are a godsend on steep routes. As far as tails are concerned, I rarely use mine (+200 lbs + pack) - Washington "powder" seems to be pretty thick, besides a lot of routes already have some sort of beaten path from previous visitors. Just my $.02 BTW, if you decide to first rent a pair from REI, ask if they'll credit the rental toward your purchase. Not sure if they'll do this (some places would), but it's an idea.

    Winter Olympics

Here's a link to a pretty funny rampage about the sissy Olympic events that get the most exposure. http://www.t-mag.com/articles/195tc.html
  10. I was skeptical at first, too. But you really do have to try to truly appreciate it.
  11. quote: Originally posted by mattp: Assuming you have perfectly good scotch to begin with, why would you want to ruin it? Sorry, I should clarify: DON'T use a single malt. You're right - that would be a complete waste. The true drink calls for a blended scotch, like say Johnny Walker Black Label.
  12. quote: Originally posted by Dru: Scotch is good straight but I always feel a bit sacreligious if you have to mix it. I have tried Drambuie and it is Ok... Dru, ever tried a Rusty Nail? Mix scotch with Drambuie 2:1. I've never taken this with me on a climb but it tastes fantastic!
  13. quote: Originally posted by no_pot_heads: After that you try thisnph Just had to note that my favorite about this one is #27. Second to the very last one, after reading that entire thing, it says: "Never read about your problem. Keep it out of your mind." Such good advice.
  14. Just another useless post. Want to see if we can get this topic into it's 10th page. Wonder what the maximum number of pages a post can have?...
  15. Wow. All I can say is: I can't believe I spent the time to 'suffer' through reading this entire thread. Just a few more posts and weed will be a more popular subject than DDD. (probably already is in reality*) *italicized term used loosely
  16. Someone once taught me the two rules about women: Rule #1. All women are inherently evil. Rule #2. If you find the exception, refer to rule #1.
  17. Ray, do you have those funky-cool hydraulics to lift your ride for clearance on old, rutted forest service roads. Or, do you like to watch the ladies "bounce" in your lowrider?
  18. Methinks Caveman's real name is Cybil.
  19. Thanks Phil, I was just about to post the same: only about one to 1-1/2 hours from Seattle and a 1 mile approach on easy trail. Funny how all these guys spew out numbers, ratings, and other minutia about some wandering "path" up an obscure rock face (with absolute certainty, mind you) but can't seem to get correct just a couple of easy details about a major tourist spot!

  22. http://www.nunatakgear.com/Sleeping_Bag_Alpinist..htmThis is spendy, too, but it's about the best/lightest weight bag you'll find. A certain local store carries it but I recommend buying it direct from Nunatak. They have very good customer service.
  23. Who else wants a five star rating? Step right up! The good ol' 5-star-ratin' club has begun right here. You, too, can become instantly popular with only a single post!
  24. There's 5 from me, as well. I know how it feels to be unpopular. So buck up, little camper! We all think you deserve to be popular, too!
  25. Thanks for the 5-star, Bronco. Just for that you get 5 right back to ya! Gee, this is fun.
