i was reading a thread on ukclimbing.com about embarassing stuff and there was a funny post about some guy who took a dump in the alps and when he put his gloves on afterwards found he had managed to deposit a 'hand warmer' in each one!
Count of Monte C. is Dumas too, silly!
In SF, climbing stories, I recommend "Green Mars" and Escape From Kathmandu, both by Kim Stanley Robinson, and Kingdoms of the Wall by Robert Silverberg.
i never got sick from drinking water from a stream *. iron gut, filters bah.
I hear if you mix 100ml of hard liquor with 900ml of water in a Nalgene it disinfects the whole thing. Better tasting than iodine.
* I never drank from the crooked river at smith either
Hmmm, leathery skin, yellow-green flesh and large seed... sounds like Dwayner. (DictionNeri, now look up "razzing". Your assignment is to relate the etymology of this word and its evolution from raspberry)
Erik I am getting the munchies just reading about food right now. we will have to cook up some "baked goods" sometime soon.

I learned how to "direct aid" climb on those "shitty pins." Ya, they messed that place up. It reminded me of whay I saw in Belgium near Marche le Dames. So Will maybe you can answer this....did the Army kick people out of the area when training was on-going? Or did climbers get the fun of watching the Army circus while they climbed. I was there in Dec. but I heard there was a nude beach down below on the river that you could see from the top of Yonah.
There's a route in Belgium and it's called March of Dimes? Wow
The Long Walk is written by Slavomir Rawicz. My favorite parts of it are 1) when somebody dies in an avalanche while they are avoiding the Yeti they have just seen (pre Reinhold Messner!!) and 2) they find a watch made by Pavel Bure's great grandfather (if you aren't a hockey fan that one is going to seem kind of obscure).
