  1. Toyota Previa is a kick ass van. Better than VW van especially the eurovan with the silly V5 engine. 5 cylinders? huh wha? just got a 90 Subaru legacy wagon. Finally i have a climber mobile. "if this wagon's rockin' don't come knockin'"
  2. When you get an aid rack by rapping down obscure lines and bootying all the 20 year old fixed pins! "wow look at this bong, what a beauty, its hardly even rusty!"

Yeah I bet nobody in Jaw'gia ever heard of Pete Doorish either! Don'tthey have Grade IV routes there that are 6 pitches long?
  4. there was a TR on this very ridge on here this morning...look around the site a bit and you should find it. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000183.html here 'tis. [This message has been edited by Dru (edited 08-20-2001).]
  5. Good TR. sounds like a true Cascade Bush Classic. what is the rock - basalt or something? i heard somewhere iit isnt granite. Pete Doorish is amazing, awe inspiring guy all round. thank god he doesnt cross border much or many SWBC alpine routes would have been poached
  6. ...or keeper strap for doggles.
  7. I hear theres some good climbin' in Spain too if you wanta order Barrabes for pickup instead of delivery
  8. Sometimes bolts get damaged just because of infighting between climbers - like "He dissed me so I will go out and wreck one of his routes." Ho hum. I mean, if someone wanted to be "ethical", they would remove (Chop) the bolts and eliminate the unsightly metal, right. Flattening hangers and leaving them in place is a pretty dumb way to protest bolting imho. It leaves all the negative aspects of the bolt (visual impact, rock damage) in place and removes the positive (use as protection)...kind of like chipping huge jug holds on a chipped climb to protest chipping. 9. quote: Originally posted by pen: no dru, the pen is but a humble mtn. lad looking for his next conquest. I'm glad you resisted temptation & left the space in between "Pen" and "Is" there....
  10. quote: Originally posted by stevenkalinowsk: Soon you will see the gendarme on the East Ridge where the route starts. Nelson and Pottersfield's book ... Isn't a Potter's Field where they bury the homeless stiffs that can't afford a church funeral?
  11. quote: Originally posted by Cpt.Caveman: It is pretty stout sounding. It is also sad that someone did not respect the original status of the route. [trouble maker] Like, as a bolt route you mean? [/trouble maker]
  12. oooh yeah right. acoustic dj beatboxin? "scwhuh -schwuh -chw-chw-schh shupshupshup -chw-chw-schh."
  13. i dig that thrift store look for cragging but sometimes poly/cotton wage slave uniform shirts and bell bottoms don't hack it for alpine north faces. funny about gaiters on mountaineers dome though freak. you should have taken a picture for us? HEY VIKTOR: that roof crack on mountie dome aint no hand crack like you say in your guidebook. that thing takes #3 and 4 Camalots! somebody got big hands?
  14. so Pen, is the pen mightier than the sword?
  15. DANGER DANGER rock and roll! Better get a DJ to balance things out. Got to be someone coming to this that scratches or knows someone who does??
  16. I don't think Twight cares what other climbers say or think about him, sorta like John Dunne. Its all good. I'm certain he has a chuckle every time Tami comes out with a new cartoon... I like that book. Its full of good tips and opinion. And I like how he tries to make climbing safely and conservatively (not falling off) seem like it is some style revolution.
  17. Great TR, good decipherin' of Beckey.
  18. Why would anyone in PNW drive a Hummer? Too wide for most logging roads. I guess the chick factor is OK.
  19. I used to be jealous of other peoples spendy gear until I worked for the Dead'Bird. Then I realized dirtbags get cheap gear too if they are 'in the industry' in some way. It sure was nice getting Arcteryx stuff cheaper than similar MEC brand pieces. I've generally found the spendier stuff to work better. It's the people walking along Robson Street with North Face Down jackets on in the rain that I don't get. But i dont get mad.. I laugh. Free comedy show. even better when the person you are laughing at is too clueless to understand why you laugh at them.
  20. And of course he wasthe original Extreme TopRoper!
  21. Don't need to go that far... you can see them in the famous Sasquatch Inn at the Chehalis turnoff every afternoon starting at 4:30 when the mill shuts down I asked the guy behind the bar counter if there was a lot of incest in that part of the world and he scratched his head and said "Naw... we fumigated."
  22. vehicle on the market today than the Pontiac Aztek? I hate them. Hate hate hate. Now in AWD. Hate hate hate x2. My "new Car" 1990 Subaru wagon will get crushed by one sometime, I just know it. They look like giant sports Walkmen! And that fake tent that folds out of the tailgate... lifestyle appropriation anyone? I bet no one who buys one will ever actually sleep in it. Bastards. 10 years from now are climber bums going to be driving them? NEVER! VW van will remain supreme.
  23. British Influence is fine when it comes to beer.... or Irish Influence anyways.
  24. I still think a TR is not a valid first ascent, just a first TR. Look at gear-less headpoints - TR the hell out of it then when you are feeling strong, solo. The first soloist gets FA credit not the first TRist. Of course with taped on skyhooks much is possible to lead...
  25. Twight is God. I heard him speak to me after swallowing the contents of my 51st GU packet in 10 minutes.
