  1. Raichle all-degree high gtx. I'll test their waterproofness out on my solo enchantments loop expedition this weekend. Stay tuned for my slideshow and book signing I'll be hosting at the White Center Tavern afterward.
  2. Ben Harper is the man. True, his latest album isn't his best, but he's got a few great cuts on there (own 2 hands...) Most of his best stuff I get off the internet (covers, long drawn out live performances, etc). If you only buy one of his albums- get live From Mars- his cover of "sexual Healing" makes me all warm and fuzzy- makes me want to give that special lady a little sumpin sumpin.
  3. I ended up getting these- they don't look as cool as the La Sportivas, but they are soooo comfortable. Feels like your wearing tennis shoes! I can't believe how light these things are. Not too sure how dry they'll stay on a long snow slog...but long snow slogs suck anyway.
  4. 8=D Thanks. Actually, do they make a boot with a specific narrow heel? Because the length on my Makalu's are fine.
  5. Anyone own the trango S? I have a pair of Makalus and they blow. I've had them about 5 years and I still get blisters on the back of my heels if I'm doing anything other than kicking steps. I use my mountain masters (sometimes with crampons )on most alpine climbs, but this just isn't practical on extensive snow. The Trango S seems to be a little softer and more pliable. I think part of my problem with the Makalu is their lace- lock system- I don't think they have this on the newer model. Any comments?
  6. How did asgard pass look? I've never been back there in winter, so I've only seen it covered in scree- is there much of an avi danger on it this time of year? How far is it from the closed gate to the trailhead? I'm thinking of hiking the loop sometime this week, for the hell of it... ...
  7. Probably because he was driving a honda. Had he been driving an SUV, he probably would have been treated with a little more respect.
  8. I own a Kel-Tec P-11. I do agree though, bringing a gun into the back-country is pretty lame. I've spent a lot of time in the hills, and have never seen a single Samoan- so what would you need a firearm for?

    Which 4WD SUV?

JoshK- you're not a very good arguer. You're sidestepping left and right. "oh, if you're a soccer mom, then soccer mom's are ok".."oh, you've got a landrover, landrover's are cool..." Stick to your guns big boy. I'm not really planning on kicking your head in, I just wanted to remind you that when your flinging around insults- you're actually talking to a real person that you might actually meet someday. So- what do you drive?

    Which 4WD SUV?

It doesn't look cool, it looks idiotic. You look like a fucking soccer mom, you poser. Also, you might want to check up on safety ratings. Your SUK is less safe in most cases. They aren't designed for safety, they are simply trucks with a shitty canopy thrown on and some seats added. They crumple like a pop can in a bad accident. They have to meet much less stringent safety standards than cars, not to mention they have this tendency to do something called roll over, which particularly sucks and is the easiest way to get yourself killed. What do you drive sweetie pie (what did mommy and daddy buy for you to drive)? If I roll, it's my fault. But if somebody t-bones me, they're going to be hitting my running boards, instead of my head and torso. Make sence? As for calling me a poser- maybe we can meet up later so I can kick in your head. Does that sound fun?
  11. What's "fraged", my dear illiterate friend? And about guts: I might be "fraged" if I had the stupidity to "serve". Fraged is what that dipshit did to a tent full of officers; keep up. And why wouldn't you serve? The military has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy now- so you'd be fine.

    Which 4WD SUV?

"It you have the macho-mobile to go pick up you're kids from school then you deserve to be humiliated with a sticker. I tagged ten shiny, never-seen-mud giants at REI this weekend."...give me a break. If you personally own a vehicle, or a pair of leather shoes for that matter, then SHUT THE FUCK UP. "I'm bad but you're worse " I drive an SUV because it has plenty of storage, 4 wheel drive for the snow, is safer (for me and the people in it) because it's larger and higher off the ground than other vehicles on the road, and because it looks COOL!!!! And if you're a REAL climber, what were you doing hanging out at REI on a weekend? Just got back from the gym and stopped off to grab a latte and a crazy creek chair?
  13. I believe that place is in Renton, Wa- home of the sweet cracks.
  14. Cat- your report is a little vague, please be more specific.
  15. Castle Rock!!! climbed in the sun/rain/clouds/sun. If God were a climber, he'd spend most of his time at Castle Rock.
