  1. Apeman, Years ago (20+) a buddy and I took a day and I did the Hargis route and one of the two chimneys, can’t recall exactly which one … my best recollection was great views from the top, absolutely no one around,, mediocre climbing on somewhat crappy rock with some loose ones thrown in for spice … pretty dirty … I would not be surprised if these routes haven’t been done since the time we were there … in the 20 years that I lived in Yakima I don’t know of anyone else that ever climbed there ...

  7. For a day trip you may also want to consider Bear Creek Mtn ... it is only 4 miles from the Pinegrass Ridge trailhead (assuming you can drive to the end of the road, don't take a low-rider) and IMO offer the best panorama of the entire group. The first 3 miles go real fast. The last mile is were you gain your elevation. Downside being a longer drive.

  11. Question for you Betamid/light owners .... the height is listed @ 44" ... where exactly is that measured at? Is it at the low spot of the roof or at one of the peaks? Granted it all depends on how long you set your poles ... I'm thinking with the sides touching the ground. The other thing I am wondering about is whether or not the additional 10.3 sq ft of the MSR is worth the extra 6 oz?
  12. Anyone else have any experience, good or bad with the MSR Twin Peaks?

  19. Isn't Crown Point an Oregon State Park? Does that bring any special considerations/rules/regs ??? Do to it's location in the gorge scenic area I would also expect potential critism by the hard core bird-watchers, tree-huggers, earth-muffins, etc.... Personally, I don't think it's worth your efforts ... but I've been wrong before
