try completing this exercise 1. Go out and buy some cord that will fit into the holes of the hex AND be strong enough to hold a leader fall. (Hint: I am not saying such cord does not exist. The availability is the crux.) Try replacing the wires?? You crack me up Hareball. How often do you replace the wires on your stoppers? Or are they all slung too? What cord are all you guys using that is strong enough, thin enough and pliable enough to clove hitch and make a prussik? I got some old hexes with the big holes that you could even poke some tubular webbing through, then you could really look oldskool! I was recently bashing hexes and especially wired hexes a while back then I went climbing a bunch with a partners rack who had a couple of medium (#5-7 maybe?) wired hexes. There were some climbs (Liberty Crack, Davis Holland ?) where those things got placed almost every pitch. Having a stopper of that size and that light turns out to be pretty handy. As I've written about a dozen times now too, don't forget that #10 and #11 wired hexes are very nearly as heavy as a lightweight cam of corresponding size.

Ah white noise, the urban aural refuge.

Caveman, I think we need that slow rockband icon that iain or somebody made for the Melvins. Let's go climb Blum and rock to Lysol, or Stoner Witch

Thanks Ryland from me and from everybody who now has that picture stored on their computers at work. Think you can drop it into a few more threads?

I was driving some kids (in car seats) jammin to the Melvins . One of the kids was rocking out. My daughter didn't dig it though (phew!/damn!) and asked me to put in Seals and Croft .

Stefan, Check this out abridged beta from CC.com . A while back I took some threads that had beta for various things I wanted to try. I saved the source code and edited out all the crap. That left me with peeeyure beta. Later I put 'em on my webpage. I hope noone minds (Jon, Tim), I tried to attribute everything, except maybe in one link (the Backbone Ridge one) where I made this little file way before I ever had any thoughts of sharing it with the world. Anyway, Stefan, if you want a pure beta repository, go ahead and make a couple pages like these and send 'em to me. I'll put them on this page. Or post 'em on your own if you got one.

You always hear the term "trustafarian," but how often do you actually get to see a combo like that? Priceless. I guess the car you drive is now required to fit into your fashion ensemble? What car do you drive Doc when you're listening to NOFX? Which one for Tito Puente?

quote: Originally posted by To The Top: How about rock seperated from alpine. Yeah! And of course it should be further subdivided into sport and trad! Seriously through, I think the trip reports sections are organized fine. If anything, I'd say consolidate them into just one forum. There's really not that much traffic on those forums. What about beta pleas? I guess they should be in with the trip reports 'cause a lot of time the trip reports and responses contain a ton o' beta.

Pope old pal, ya gotta know, I'm sure you do, that in this cold cruel world you can't rest on your laurels for long. There's a lot more what-have-you-done-for-me-lately's than there are lifetime achievement awards. I agree wholeheartedly that Dwayner has, in the past, singlehandedly made this site worth reading. But, for some reason, he's apparently hit a writer's block. Colorful tales of Sauna Sow-sage have been replaced by links to a midget's homepage. Where are the brilliant stories, rife with allegory and wisdom, of journeys through the surreal village of "Leavenworth" with his buddy "pope" seeking the ghost of "big Lou"? Instead we are fed recurrent pictorial reminders of his disgust/envy of a current teen idol. It may be hard for you to see because you're too close to the guy, but from this critic's eyes, it appears he might have lost it. The bold style that created the "alpine buddy". The dude that coined "sausage-fest". The merciless pitiful houndings of the "icegirl". Where has it gone? It's a rough world out there Pope old boy, as that Captain Caveman lookalike used to sing, it's all "gimme gimme gimme", and we want the old Dwayner. Not this new shit. If you wanna help your buddy and all of CC.com, give that Dwayner something to write about. Do something to bring him out of his doldrums. Help blast that damn writer's block outa there and all over Donna's bag. Call the man up. Drag him out to the hills. Bring some sausage. Give him some inspiration! We'd all be much appreciative.

If you're anonymous there's nothing to worry about...as long as your contributions also mean nothing to you. If you just click an icon or three and dash off a couple of vaccuous, misspelled one-liners, what can anyone say to hurt you? However, if you spend some time and try to post something of value, like beta for a climb, talk about your personal experience, write about something you think is cool, when people just pop off with no consideration, it can gouge pretty deep or at the very least be annoying as f**k.

Dwayner, Perhaps this website "jumped the shark" when you stopped posting your humorous anecdotes and trip reports and replaced them with endless pictures of alpine kitty, tom stoppard and your latest hunk. Those were good times back when you actually contributed something. You get what you pay for. Seriously though, if you wanna do something about this board then contribute something that you consider valuable. Whatever you contribute will leave fertile ground for the proliferation of your style by others with similar likes. It is a waste of time to try to get the regulars on this board to change their style by ridicule/scolding. If they were sensitive to ridicule they would not have made it to regular status.
