They're selling $79 (cheaper if you're in college) season passes starting tomorrow! Anybody know how long they plan to stay open this year? Even the baby runs? Maybe see u there.

OK, I fixed my post above to conform to your semantic specifications.

Hey AlpenTom, You seem quite interested in prolonging this discussion. You're lucky AlpineK has stated his point once or twice so you can keep posting. As an example of what AK is talking about, let me quote your post above with how I read it oh, and AlpineK probably does judge how good of climbers people are on this site by what they say they climbed.

addictive?!! who are you guys kiddin' ?? I call it bohh-ringgg I crashed on purpose so I didn't have to play anymore

Isn't it like two, eight hour days of work to get the pass? That comes out to somewhere under 2.50 an hour which is far, far less than the hourly wages of the people our taxes are already paying to perform the same tasks! You aren't figuring in that when you pay for a trail park pass only a small percentage actually goes toward the trails. Doing the trail work means that everything you "pay" for the pass actually goes toward the trail

Perlon's not dynamic. Colin, do you work at REI?

WOWO! Did you get to "When Ronald Maodonald Met Maodonna"

Mikeadam had a story on the late great Alpinelite about a time he almost bit it in a tree well. Sobering read. I think you can still dredge it up if you search on Google for Tree Well and look at the cached page.

That Ron Judd guy has done a column or two on this. Is he a colleague or competitor?

See how HAPPY those people are looking (in the Wedgewood Alehouse pix)!!??! Not a grumpy look among them, well except maybe mattP (just a little ). We should have Pub Club at the Wedgewood Alehouse EVERY freakin' week, well except for maybe once or twice at Golden Gardens in early summer and maybe Ballard Grill/D&H/Zoo once a month. Fine beer, good service, relaxed atmosphere, smoke not too bad, "the last horseshoe-shaped bar in Seattle", and supremely excellent location !!!!!

What percent of your 5$ trailpark pass actually goes to fund trail maintenance? My guess would be that an interesting story could be done by merely looking at the official budgets. Looking at % of trailpark monies that are used only to fund enforcement and logistics of the Fee Demo system itself along with the cut that goes to the general fund in D.C. would be enlightening. Also comparing the money that is not used up by Fee Demo logistics and kickbacks to D.C. to the amount of money by which the budgets of these agencies have been cut would show whether or not the Fee Demo is helping or hurting in terms of funding what they say it funds.

Well, for the sake of argument, let's pretend you were trying to make a point instead of just "joking". If that were the case, I would think you were off base in your characterization of my post. It did matter about SpecialE's intentions. My guess is that he was just trying to tell a joke that was entertaining to him. Since that was the case, I chose to focus my comments on the joke, not the teller. I tried to explain why I didn't like it. On the other hand, if I thought a poster was just telling that joke in order to push "sensitive" people's buttons like, for example, Necro seems to like to do, then my response would've been different.
-
Yep. Still wouldn't be funny though.

Dr. Flash, My post on this discussion board: 1) communicated how the joke made me feel, 2) challenged others to think about the joke from an alternative viewpoint, 3) critiqued the posted material in terms of joke value. Your depiction of my comments as a crucifixion are ludicrous. SpecialEd, Let me assure you, I've got nothing against you for telling that joke. Back before I had kids, I myself might have passed that one on. If you feel personally slighted by my comments, I'm sorry about that. I'm just letting you and others know about something that I intensely dislike. Your comment that I am sensitive is right on. Obviously. That is why I posted this thread in the first place. If that joke was told to me in person, I'd either walk away, or I'd tell the person what I thought of it, depending on what it was worth to me to stay. With regards to this particular situation, I like cc.com, and you seem cool, so I chose the latter. Finally, I can't really comment directly on your your beef with the "joke police", as I don't have the power to delete posts, other than the fact that justifying something bad by pointing out other bad things is a poor argument. I have no special pull with the editing moderator other than he probably reads many of my posts. The fact that the joke got deleted likely reflects that he didn't think too much of it either. With this comment I'm not trying to distance myself from the joke censoring. I would have done the same thing in a heartbeat had my name been attached to running this website.

I know it's mostly me, but the pedophile joke in the "you've got to be joking" thread has seriously bummed me out. I marveled momentarily at the shock value, then was only able to focus on the thought of a child (symbol of an innocent) being led to his death, perhaps tortured first. Depressing. I challenge you pedophile-joke tellers to picture a loved child in your joke. I doubt you have kids, but perhaps a nephew or niece you spent some time with, maybe your sister or brother at a small age, any smiling kid on the street. All you who laughed at the suggestion that The Lawgoddess was tied up in some basement, see how funny that is when you put your wife, your sister, or your mom in that picture. Ha Ha. Horror movies, thrillers, sensationalist newsstories are supposed to make you feel like shit or scared. A joke is supposed to make you feel good, right?
-
All you smoke wienies should go, because once the party gets moved into the basement, we will control our own destiny since only pub clubbers will be down there. You will be able to discuss with the smokers why your rights to clean air supercede their rights to smoke. Most likely you will have the smokers outnumbered and since smokers have been consistently emasculated by societal trends (though not yet completely by the laws of the land), you will probably win.

Jeez you guys get real! Pounding pins withing 2 feet of the ground at a well used crag/former quarry with trails beat into the ground, bolts and ratty slings hanging off the walls. ScottP you have my blessing to pound pins at the base of the wall at any well used crag that has beer cans and cliff bar wrappers strewn among the spider web of trails, as long as you remove them when you are done

Use of Cordelettes in Equalized Anchor Systems
chucK replied to catbirdseat's topic in Climber's Board
I carry one all the time, but I find I'm using it less and less. Might be time to lighten up the load. Double ropes, both clipped into independent anchors, adjusted/equalized via clove hitch. That's what I use. Cordelette gets used more often when I'm climbing on a single rope. -
Wedgewood Alehouse is the place. They have a marquee that says something about best hot roast beef sandwhiches or something. I went in there once, and it was low key and dark, with a mostly younger clientele. I bet it would be just fine ...er I mean PERFECT for Pub Club. Oh yeah, and despite the "Alehouse" moniker it is definitely not ferny.

Maybe you have me confused with the waitress at the Blue Star?
