  1. I have some hardware in my right leg very similar to the image above. I thought my dancing days were over, and there was some soreness even a couple years later. but now its just who I am and I don't notice it. admittedly I'm not rock climbing much these days, but I get out plenty doing alpine scrambles and of course riding my bike 200 miles a week. I tend not to run as much as I used to, but that is mainly because I don't want to be constantly pounding my knees. I did go for a run and did a test 12K off the couch last week and because of my bike fitness I was able to run the whole thing at ~10:30 a mile pace, pretty good for off the couch for me with no walking. So good days ahead for all of ya!

  2. I have a 2019 skidoo summit sport 600 with 146 track. I only use it for trailhead access on roads, generally hauling overnight gear and several partners and it works great. It does overheat if riding long gravel or pavement sections (like > 1 mile) and it is 2 stroke so I have to be careful to not go slow for too long without revving the engine. A 4 stroke fan cooled might solve these problems but I've always made mine work.

  3. Hey! Glad you're doing well. That's awesome you got out, and the one nice thing about crutching is it's freaking exhausting, eh? After two wonderful months of fighting insurance I finally had surgery this week, so in bed 23 hours a day at the moment, and on crutches for a month, but psyched to be finally moving in the right direction.

  4. Trip: Asulkan Hut Ski Week - Youngs Peak, Sapphire col, Ravens, Forever Young, 7 steps to Paradise Trip Date: 03/15/2023 Trip Report: It is better to be lucky than good, and last week we were definitely lucky up at the Asulkan Hut. Much thanks to @wbk for organizing the madness and bringing such a strong crew to the trip, including @therunningdogand @Trent. I felt a bit old and weak with the crew assembled, but that was entirely a good thing. Pretty inspiring to watch the younger guns charge hard all week! We skied in just before a significant storm and warm up, content to lap the trees below the hut on our first full day in. As the week went on, the weather and stability improved significantly, allowing us to ski classic lines like the Seven Steps to Paradise, Forever Young, The Ravens, and Dome Headwall. Seven steps, in particular, the group skied many, many times. So much good terrain up there, it is quite impressive! I think that there are few huts that can compete, even those that you fly into. I caught myself marveling nearly every day at our good fortune, but I suspect that it is often pretty good up there. I had stayed away from Rogers Pass for many years, scared of the terrain and avalanche paths. Maybe this was warranted, maybe I was too timid. Regardless, this trip was proof that mortals can indeed safely ski up there- if you take it easy. Just remember, this isn't a coastal snowpack! Gear Notes: skis, avy gear....brought ropes and such and never used Approach Notes: Asulkan valley, go up!
