sobo Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 So I'm headed to the British Virgin Islands this weekend until Christmas. I've heard that there are some boulders at water's edge on Virgin Gorda near some place they call "The Baths" near Spring Bay. Anybody know anything about this? Should I take my shoes? Thanks. Quote
kurthicks Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) I looked into doing a trip there a while back. take your shoes and a chalkbag for sure. I'll look for the links that I used to have saved somewhere... http://www.drtopo.com/guidebooks/int/British_Virgin_Islands/241 Edited December 3, 2009 by kurthicks Quote
sobo Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Wow! That didn't take long at all! Thanks, Kurt! So when are we gonna hit SCW again, anyway? And Lighting Dome? Quote
sobo Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Excellent little pocket guide, Kurt! Thanks a bazillion, this should be a fun distraction once I tire of swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, parasailing, scuba diving, eating, drinking, womanizing, sailing, etc. Quote

Jon G Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I visited the baths a couple times long before I started climbing. From what I remember it has TONS of potential. here are some links: http://thundafunda.com/2/traveling-pictures-tourism/download/The%20Baths,%20Virgin%20Gorda%20Island,%20British%20Virgin%20Islands,%20West%20Indies.jpg http://www.synrockholds.com/virgingorda1.html Quote

plexus Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I spent two weeks on Virgin Gorda. Most definitely take your shoes. Two weeks of bouldering, snorkeling when you get too warm, more bouldering, etc.; and followed with lots of drinking at the little hut at the top of the trail down to The Baths. You'll love it. I believe I have a couple of pics from there posted in my gallery. Quote
AJScott Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 !!!that looks soo nice right now with our current weather situation!! Quote

sobo Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Ho hum... Things are sooooooo boring here. Wake up about 8, drink coffee, eat, go boldering, drink beers, eat, go snorkeling, drink rum punchies, eat, nap, go snorkeling again, drink more beer, go bouldering again, scuba dive, drink more rum drinks, go find dinner, drink more rum punchies on the veranda, go to bed, wake up and repeat. You guys thaw out yet? Quote
billcoe Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Cough* dickhead * cough * icestorm ahead * cough Hey Sobo, it ain't happenin' unless there are pictures of Bikini babes. Quote
sobo Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 I finally got around to uploading some pics from this trip. Enjoy! It was somewhat scary taxiing out to the runway in San Juan. Those heavies look a lot bigger when you're in a Cessna 421... Nancy the Beer Fairy came to the rescue after touching down on Tortola. We took a high-speed ferry to Virgin Gorda from here. This sweet little bungalow was to be our home sweet home on VG for Week #1. This became my personal boulder problem, right off our veranda. Nancy and I took a hike to the "high point" of VG. I think it was about 1,300 feet AMSL... Savannah Bay was our most favorite snorkeling area on VG. Very private... Those mermaids sure do move fast... BOULDERS!!! More boulderings at The Baths Excuse me, that's my harem that just arrived and I must go tend to them... A fine roast pig BBQ for dinner, but the waitress takes lousy pictures. JUMBIES!!! More Jumbie dancers! These guys are freak'n fun to watch. Chillin' at the villa on Tortola, our home on the beach for Week #2. Sunday brunch at the ex-pat's estate. These Brits have a swim-up bar in here... Now, that's a barracuda! That thing is longer than my son is tall! Daysailing after my most awesome scuba dive. Drinks all around! Sadly, the sun must eventually set on every fine adventure... This trip was definitely one that will go down in my memory as a veritable h00t! Gotta get back to the BVI someday, and soon... Quote

murraysovereign Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 When I was down sailing with some friends last November we heard the Willie T is for sale. Wanna go halfers? I think they were only asking a couple of million for it. Stupid high cash flow; no income taxes: shouldn't be too hard to pay off the loan if you can stay sober enough to make the bank deposits... Couloir Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Nothing like a good slow burn throughout the day. Great TR Sobo! Quote
