David_Parker Posted February 4, 2003 Author Posted February 4, 2003 Going to Alpental again thursday, 2-6 if anyone is headed there, lets hook up. I'll climb or ski anything also, if you prefer. Basically, I'm available (so far)! Quote
thelawgoddess Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 i'll be at crystal thursday and friday ... Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Dave, I kind of fell down and got a little banged up at work yesterday, and the doc won't let me ski for a few days, but next week I should be good to go Tu or Weds. Â Flame suit on, yes I am a little bit accident-prone. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Flame suit on, yes I am a little bit accident-prone. Â please tell me you wear a helmet skiing! Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Actually the problem doesn't plague me when I am skiing, and no I don't wear a helmet skiing, the idea of doing so strikes me as ridiculous. Â It's nice to see that candor will still get you laughed at here. I'm sure you are perfect. Quote
fern Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 weren't you the one a while back mommying thelawgoddess to wear a helmet while climbing? Quote
Skisports Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Hey Dave I would hook up with you to climb (missoula) but I am bit to far away. when you head up to banff or Hyalite give me a PM I will go with yeah. Dave Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 weren't you the one a while back mommying thelawgoddess to wear a helmet while climbing? Â Yes, I was. Â I see a considerable difference in the objective hazards associated with climbing vs. skiing, especially lift-serviced skiing. Quote
erik Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 weren't you the one a while back mommying thelawgoddess to wear a helmet while climbing? Â Yes, I was. Â I see a considerable difference in the objective hazards associated with climbing vs. skiing, especially lift-serviced skiing. Â yeah there are few trees while climbing that you might crush your skull on.. Â i have gotten about 3 concussions while "lift" serve skiing and none while b/c and none while climbing..... Â i dont see the logic?! Â Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 I don't do a lot of skiing in the treez, and rarely fall down. Never really lose control, and tend to make some turns rather than just point them down the hill. Only reason I personally would wear one is to protect against out of control snowboarders. Â Now on Rando gear, well, that's another story.... Quote
snoboy Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 THey are warm and cozy though. Although $120 is a lot to pay for a hat! Â They (ski lids) apparently aren't that effective over 12mph! Â That said, I wear mine all the time at the hill. Maybe it will reduce the brain injury... Quote
thelawgoddess Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 weren't you the one a while back mommying thelawgoddess to wear a helmet while climbing? Â mommying? y'all didn't see the half of it - you should have seen the pm's!!! Â and for someone who gets hurt walking around "the office" to not see the objective hazards of skiing - well ... i won't go there. Quote
b-rock Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Let's remember what happened to Sony Bono... Â Helmets rule. Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Around the office....? You mean the stage, late into the second really long day in a row, after not getting any sleep last weekend in Salt Lake? Â Oh, I can only dream that someday I will be half as perfect as you! Â I think people who think they need helmets at the ski area may really need lessons on how to ski. Quote
snoboy Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 And people who wear seatbelts need driving lessons? Maybe they just feel better wearing them. Â What evidence do you have to support that helmets are not a good idea? Is there something wrong with being safer? Â Why is everyone so grumpy today??? Quote
Dru Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 if ya wanna ditch the catfights check out this beautiful site which gives the shortbus a ride for its money. Â Â http://ssshotaru.homestead.com/files/aolertranslator.html Quote
b-rock Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 I think people who think they need helmets at the ski area may really need lessons on how to ski. Â Ha! Follow me into the trees, follow me down the steeps. Â I know too many people who who received head injuries w/o a helmet skiing and now they can't do shit. My head pays my salary, so I'm not messing around. Quote
snoboy Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Very handy service! Does just what it says it will: Â THIS TRANSLA2R WIL TAEK WUT U WRIET IN IT AND TURN IT IN2 TEH MAN3R A 12-YEAR-OLD AOLAR WUD WRIET IT!11! OMG WTF LOL TYPA IN WUT U WANT TRANSLAETD AND TH3N CLIK DA BUTON Quote
thelawgoddess Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 Oh, I can only dream that someday I will be half as perfect as you! Â come off it, allison - you already know you're perfect. yet another discussion i have to put a stop to with you because you're so disrespectful of anyone's opinion but your own. at least now i don't have to worry about seeing you anywhere near the terrain i like to ski. Quote
allison Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 Yah, I tend to skip the green runs altogether. Â Hey, anyone besides the lawgoddess want to go thrash around on the ice with me on Wednesday? Anywhere at Snoqrummy is fine, I have a pass thing for there. I ski regular alpine gear but do not begrudge AT or pinheads! Quote
