glassgowkiss Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Besides TAT none of the companies are listing current pricing. Are the prices pretty much the same across? (TAT vs K2 vs Doug Geeting?) Quote
DPS Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 In the past prices to KIA and the Ruth Gorge were all priced the same across the air taxis, but TAT will fly to places the others won't and you get to use their guest house, so TAT has always been my choice. Quote
WCC Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Doug Geeting Aviation isn't flying anymore. Geeting is now a pilot for one of the other outfits. You might also consider Sheldon Air Service. Quote
christophbenells Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 i second sheldon air. they may not have the fancy planes and tech that TAT and K2 have, but holly will offer a much more personalized experience and bake you cookies. Â its the dirtbag choice, about $50 cheaper if i remember correctly, and they fed us while we stayed there... Quote
John Frieh Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Talkeetna Air Taxi is worth every penny and one of the best in the entire state. Fly with them a few times and they will start giving you serious discounts on your flights. The owner is an actual climber so he can give you real beta instead of vague speculation. Cant say enough good things about them. Quote
denalidave Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I worked for a high end lodge in Kantishna for most of the 90's. (Thus my name) K2 and TAT were always great to work with and I've flown with both of them quite a few times. The lodge I worked for sent a shit ton of clients to both, mostly I workded with K2 on a daily basis. They always delivered professionalism and safety. However, that was 20 years ago. Â The last time I visited the Kahiltna was spring of 2010 and TAT was awesome. The pilot picked me up after a couple days on the Glacier and flew me out as his only passeger. He told me he wanted to check out the pow he planned to ski later that day. He touched down, basically, "skiing" his plane off the summit snowfield. I sure wish I could have gone back with him for that ski run in the many feet of fresh pow... Â [video:youtube] Quote
denalidave Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Also, check out Kantishna Air Taxi... Greg LaHahie... Â Quote
wfinley Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 They all charge the same. Go with TAT - not only do they have a bunk house and will they take you anywhere you want to go, they also go out of their way to support local climbing groups and avalanche centers. Quote
ALpinista Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Showing my age, but I sure miss flying with Cliff and Jay. Can't remember how many times Jay flew in just to bring us a six-pack. Often he would buzz overhead in his cub and drop beers and steaks as we skied up the glacier. And then there was the time he pulled me off the upper West Fork with a broken leg... Quote
