pink Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I loved his post as Corduroy Man, what a funny dude! Quote
astrov Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 A friend of mine got married to Tyler's sister a few years ago. I hung out with the wedding party at a rented house afterwards and met Tyler. I was already familiar with his avatar here and was happily surprised to meet the unassuming person behind it. We hung out late into the night. Tyler seemed just really good at life, and I was sorry I didn't get to climb with him or see him again. I suspect most people who met him felt similarly drawn to him. He was a brilliant and exceptional person. Quote
hanman Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 My last CC conversation with Tyler some time ago, I think I sent him some photos of the late Greyell on Illusion Wall: “got a boner lookin at your pictures.... lets climb? bolt some slab? when can we get into some granite slab to bolt from the ground? fuck cracks” We miss you Tyler, RIP Quote
KirkW Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Too soon my friend, far too soon. From his Facebook page... [video:youtube] Quote
shapp Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 If anyone hears when the memorial service is, please let me know. Thanks, Jason Shappart Quote
KirkW Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 His mother posted on his FB page that they are planning a memorial at the Corvallis Airport on November 7th. Quote
pink Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Tylers blog Tyler was the real deal... sigh.... such a loss. The GODS have bigger plans for him. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Sorry to hear this, I never got to climb with him. Seemed like a good dude! "For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." Kahil Gibran Quote
shapp Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The paper indicated the services are on Friday November 7: A celebration of Tyler's life will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Corvallis Airport. I plan on attending. Quote
layton Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I wonder if Tyler is aiding up the Cobra right now? Quote
ivan Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 heaven is just for free-climbers, aiders at best get purgatory Quote
shapp Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) Based on the huge attendence at the memorial, Tyler touched a lot of people, including myself. We'll miss you. The poem on his memorial: Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate. And though I oft have passed them by A day will come at last when I Shall take the hidden paths that run West of the Moon, East of the Sun. -J.R.R. Tolkien I plan on putting up a memorial route to Tyler next spring in the Owyhee, a tower we scoped together but did not get a chance to climb. I am thinking the route might eventually be called the Tyler Adams Memorial Route: West of the Moon, East of the Sun. Edited November 8, 2014 by shapp Quote
shapp Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Missing my friend Tyler Adams; a year ago yesterday he made his last flight. An inspirational soul I will never forget. Quote
JosephH Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Were just speaking about Tyler yesterday... Losing Tyler along with Vern Stiefel, Jim Anglin, and Mark Cartier has made for a couple of really tough years for the community - all are deeply missed. Quote
bwwakaranai Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I did not know him but reading these posts it's obvious he had the spirit and shared that energy with many others. RIP and condolences to all his friends and family. Quote
