thelawgoddess Posted January 7, 2003 Author Posted January 7, 2003 part of the exhaust system fell off, puncturing the gas tank and bending the rear axle ... or something like that. whatever - it isn't good!!! Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Ooh, jump on that offer TLG, I bet he just wants you to let him give you one of those oral pedicures of his. Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Sorry about the Saab btw - maybe the axle damage is from when you got rear-ended. Â Â Quote
thelawgoddess Posted January 7, 2003 Author Posted January 7, 2003 thanks, trask. but i'm only going to carpool with you if you let me drive the 911. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted January 7, 2003 Author Posted January 7, 2003 i can't believe nobody from this board is going. agh!!! Quote
vegetablebelay Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 It's a long way to go to watch some ice climbing. Quote
Highlander Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 (edited) .........................or to go skiing  There is 50% chance I may be heading there in February but it will be part of 4 month road trip. Edited January 7, 2003 by Highlander Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Depending on conditions, I might head to Joe's Valley during that weekend. Ouray is maybe 4-5 hours driving time further from there. It's possible to catch a score, or more, of top-ropes in a day there (or so I've heard). Do you have a place lined up to stay while there? Quote
thelawgoddess Posted January 8, 2003 Author Posted January 8, 2003 i do, yes. with a bunch of slc guys. i just waited too long to buy a plane ticket so i could ride with them. i'd fork out the extra for the air-ride if i didn't have this damned car problem to deal with!!! i was so looking forward to climbing ice in the dark after having downed a number of margaritas ... sexual_chocolate Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Hey freeclimb, when does Joe's and Ibex(?) shape up for reliable bouldering? I'm thinking of heading over that way, or the Happies, early to mid Feb. I know Happies would be good.... Quote
JoshK Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 tlg, I can safely assure you that their are plenty of opportunities to climb ice (in the dark or not) with the help of margaritas outside of ouray. In fact, doesn't climbing with a thermos of hot buttered yukon jack sound even better? Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 sexual_chocolate, sent a pm with bouldering info. Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 So go a little later in the season. There'll be fewer people there at a non-festival time, but that means it will just be crowded instead of a zoo. But if you need to ice-socialize, there are other upcoming possibilities like the Roundup in Cody, Lilloeet, Chicks with Picks, Canmore, North of Superior, or Valdez icefests (among others further east). Eddy Culnane Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I'm flying from Seattle to Denver and driving to the Ouray Ice Festival, and I have a motel room. Airfare was only $173 RT. Let me know if you'd like to attend and share car/motel expenses with me. I'm flying out Thursday AM and returing Sunday PM. Â I plan on top-roping and attending ice climbing clinics.
