bwwakaranai Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) The Skagit County Crags guidebook is complete and available at the Mt. Erie store and also at the Big Rock Cafe(located at the hwy 9 and College Way junction in Mount Vernon). This guide includes over 200+ routes at 9 different crags; Mt. Erie(Select), Rosario, Big Rock, Devils Rock-pile, Umbrella Rock, Calendar Butte, 7 Mile Rock, Coal Crag, and Iron Mt Crag. Some great traditional, sport, and mixed rock-climbs to be had, minus the crowds. My pops (retired computer tech-e guy)is putting together a website skagitcrag.com for updates on new routes, road conditions, etc. Kompai!, -Brandon Edited August 7, 2013 by bwwakaranai Quote
Eric K Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Sick! It will be nice to know some more info about all these areas I have been climbing at. nice work! Eric Quote
bwwakaranai Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 What's the cover route? Thad Nelson climbing "Wisecrack" the classic crack on the Wise Up Wall at Coal Mountain Crag. Terry Stoupa/Dallas Kloke 1972. Thad has also put some beta on Mountain Project, I believe its listed under Cumberland Crags. Quote
mattp Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Wisecrack looks beautiful. I'm excited to check out the new guidebook! Quote
Apdavids Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Awesome work Brandon. Can't wait to pick up a copy. Quote
bwwakaranai Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Thanks! I forgot to mention that if you purchase from the Erie store you get a free chalk ball and some proceeds go toward the Kloke family foundation. Some copies now available at Big Rock Cafe in Mount Vernon. Edited August 7, 2013 by bwwakaranai Quote

JimThompson Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Brandon, thanks for helping out the Kloke Family Foundation. Now TWO guidebooks are contributing to a good cause! Quote
Rainman Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Brandon, Now I know why it was hard to go climbing with you. I'm looking forward to getting my copy. Can I order one from you or do I have to go through the retail stores? Chris G. Quote
bwwakaranai Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Of course I've got a copy for you Chris. Or I should say I will soon. The machine is down at Village Books but should be fixed within the week. I think the 2 stores are out. BTW I was going through my box full of books and saw that I still have your castle rocks ID book I need to get back to you. Thanks for the + feedback! Quote
bwwakaranai Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) The Pro bound books are back and available at the two previously mentioned stores again. Thanks Village Books! -Brandon Edited September 1, 2013 by bwwakaranai Quote
Jason4 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I picked up the last copy at Erie General store last week. I assume they were out of chalk balls already but that wasn't why I stopped anyways. Time to restock! Nice job. Quote
bwwakaranai Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Hey thanks Jason! You may have to ask about the chalk balls since they forget to add them sometimes. They still have some though and they have more books now too. Don and Jerry are the nicest people and really like it when climbers stop by. If they are out at the Erie store, don't forget you can also purchace from Big Rock Cafe too, and their portabella burgers with sweet potato fries are yum. Sunshine please Quote

Is it possible to go to Village Books and have a copy made? Or do they only print in runs? Quote
mattp Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Sunshine please While you are at it, how about MORE WEEKENDS! This one is kind of rainy. Can we have a refill? Quote
bwwakaranai Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 They haven't had them barcoded yet (costs more $) and do not carry them at the bookstore. Maybe the new bouldering gym in b-ham would throw a couple copies on the shelf. Vertical World Everett was nice enough to place a few copies tomorrow. Is it already gym time!? Uhg Quote
chris Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Give Mike or Martin a call at Pro Ski and Mountain Service in North Bend. Or stop by with a dozen - I'll grab a copy first chance I get. Quote
bwwakaranai Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 cool! will do Chris thanks. -Brandon Quote
