Today, Colby, Brian and Diane Okanek, Erin, Travis and I did some maintenance on the Climber Memorial. We powerwashed roofs, pulled weeds, planted flowers, removed overgrown brush, and stained wood. When everything was completed I was sitting alone in the quiet for quite some time, before a woman guide and her clients, having just returned from a summit came down the path that leads from TIA, . She knelt down in front of the bench, said something humble, and rose and touched the wall. Her client from the UK was the only one to comment. He remarked, "What a truly amazing place." ...Indeed.

like any graveyard, best to enjoy on a warm day w/ a headn'belly-full of happiness and a picnic lunch - pretty much the best way to tackle talkeetna in general!
