dustinb Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Trip: Dragontail - Triple Couloirs Date: 1/22/2011 Trip Report: Climbed triple couloirs yesterday with a buddy. The snow was in great shape. Perfect neve the entire way. The runnels were mostly neve with ice to the sides. We bived at the lake with intentions of climbing more but woke to pretty warm temps on Sunday. If the FL come back down I imagine it will become good again. I don't own a camera so no pictures. Sorry Approach Notes: The road is fast, there is a broken trail into the lake now. The descent down Assgard was firm neve. Quote

Peakpimp Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Nice work! I love that route. Just curious, how did the rest of the North Face look? Did the Gerber-Sink appear in at all? -Josh Quote

mhux Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Do you think it'd still be in reasonable condition by this weekend? Looks like its rather warm in Leavenworth this week... Quote
cbcbd Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Right on Dustin! Do you think it'd still be in reasonable condition by this weekend? Looks like its rather warm in Leavenworth this week... I would venture to say that it would be in excellent condition this weekend. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=47.48194469821279&lon=-120.83106994628906&site=otx&smap=1&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=text Quote

kevino Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 How was the coverage in the upper enchantments? How about the upper bowl/snow creek glacier? Wind scoured snow? Quote

ivan Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 stiiiiiil, no pictures kinda mean it didn't happen and u always take a ton of pics, but nothing much ever happens cuz i'm too busy taking pictures, duh! stoked to hear tc is in fat this year - seems like folks have been bitching for a couple years about the runnels not coming in well. Sol Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) i was just telling somebody that I thought TC would be in. nice job! Edited January 25, 2011 by Sol Quote
goatboy Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 When I climbed it years ago, there were no runnels in sight (in terms of ice). It was all thick, fat, styrofoam neve from bottom to top. Easy (if steep in places). Felt like cheating. Carried ice screws, never needed them. Quote
goatboy Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Shouldn't this be moved to the Alpine Lakes forum? Quote
Mjollnir Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Update: As of yesturday the route is still in EXCELLENT shape. Thanks for the TR Dustin. Quote
