ya admrl. rainier never even saw the mountain. I think we should name all the cascade volcanos by their indian name. that would sure be a big honor to the local native indians. so the north peak is still hunter?

The north peak is still Mount Hunter, but the name of the Middle Summit of Mount Hunter would sound rather odd without a South Peak of Mount Hunter.

What is the North Peak of Denali named? And why didn't Mur-kow-ski (sp?) propose that?

I don't think the North Peak of Mount McKinley has an offical name. There is a lot wrong about that press release - the South Peak of Mount Hunter is not the highest unnamed peak in Alaska (some would say it already has a name, but if we're only to consider official names, the North Peak of Mount McKinley is more than a mile higher than the South Peak of Mount Hunter and doesn't have an offical name), the summit elevation of the South Peak of Mount Hunter is 13966 feet (not 13895 feet), etc.
