richard_noggin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Anyone in his right or left mind knows that we need health care reform, what I love about this country is that all eyes are on the subject so we will get the BEST option The speeches last night on the right and left were both great speeches and if we can keep on a role with the other problems we are facing we will come out on top as the greatest country in the world and show the rest of the world our character I do not have any respect for those on the right disrespecting the president during a speech or the ones spreading lies I also have not respect for those on the left that think throwing money at something will fix it and just getting on a political band wagon. I think no matter what happens in the future on health care it will be good for the economy and health care Rich, Poor and profit bottom line should have nothing to do with basic health care Quote

j_b Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I also have not respect for those on the left that think throwing money at something will fix it and just getting on a political band wagon. except that you have drunk the corporate Kool-Aid because nobody on the left is suggesting throwing money at the healthcare problem. On the contrary, the left is arguing to extend medicare (or something nearly equivalent) to the entire population, which would cut out the the insurance middleman from the equation. I think no matter what happens in the future on health care it will be good for the economy and health care as if forcing people to buy insurance from private oligopolies was going to be good for anybody else but already bloated oligopolies. Rich, Poor and profit bottom line should have nothing to do with health care That would be basic health care, we all know the rich will get better health care because they have the money for it, But old alcoholics buying livers is a little excessive. not nearly as getting rich through denying access healthcare to those who need it, very few of which are alcoholics needing a liver transplant. Now what is exactly the republican proposal? when i heard the speech of your idol last night (cardiac surgeon) the system is fine as it is. of course he did not mention almost 47 millions without any insurance. so what is the exact proposal. last time this nation listed to wise republicans we ended up in a biggest crisis since a great depression. so why should we listen now? Pete_H Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I would have liked to hear more from Obama on reducing health care costs by taking away the incentive for physicians to over-treat. Unfortunately, I think the Republicans would react to any suggestion that reigning in the free market or putting any limits on the profits of insurance oligopolies (to borrow JB's term) by further charging socialism and death panels and such. We'll get a turd wrapped up in pretty wrapping paper. Right now, too many American citizens with jobs and families are not able to afford health insurance. That is not even viscous enough to be a turd. Never mind the wrapping paper. Quote
