Fairweather Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Sounds like its all coming together... President Biden gives final approval? Saudis OK with Israel flyover? Quote
Doug Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I hope you had a nice Independence Day Fairweather! I know this business of having a socialist in the White House must have you all in a tither, but hang on help's a coming! Seriously, interesting strategy letting Israel take on Iran instead of us going in. Or is the VP just talking out of his ass again? Quote
astrov Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 happened before, it'll happen again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera Quote
billcoe Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Pretty sure that it's scheduled for this fall. Quote
dougd Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Seriously, interesting strategy letting Israel take on Iran instead of us going in. The IDF has been the attack dog in that area for a long long time. They're very adept. d Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Barry will have "more flexibility" after the elections Quote
JosephH Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Nothing new here, same as it ever was other than 'Barry' actually transferred some GBU-28s due Israel from a 2005-6 sale where the Bush administration only talked. In the gap the Israelis developed the MPR-500 seen here penetrating three of four reinforced concrete barriers still relatively intact. All in all I wouldn't underestimate the Persians anymore than I would the israelis and think attacking them will end badly for everyone. Quote
Coldfinger Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Any reason you capitalize Persians (or call them that instead of Iranians) and not israelis? Dictatorship tend to wobble before they fall. Would be a good thing. Quote

Most in the know don't think this is possible anyhow so unless they are anticipating another holocaust, they probably shouldn't encourage them... Quote
JosephH Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 It's not like Israel hitting nuke plants as our proxy is anything new. The prospect of coupling nukes with Iran's recent missile advances has raised Israelis concerned, but it's the prospect of them hardening those sites with an infrastructure of Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, or derivatives thereof, which is really pushing buttons. The Russians have backed off sales, but there is speculation Iran managed to get a couple from Belarus and / or Libya. This is a very capable missile system and should Iran get such an infrastructure in place it would be very costly to attack their facilities with anything other than cruise missiles - i.e. using those GBU bunker busters could be quite difficult. akhalteke Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Just because they hit nue plants doesn't mean they did it as a proxy. I think Kev is rubbing off around here. Quote
Coldfinger Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Don't forget all the exploding Iranian nuke scientists. The Iranian response was to send bombers to Thailand to blow their own legs off and get caught.... Quote
