prole Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 No wait, tell us more about those countries with socialized medicine where rock climbing and other dangerous activities have been banned! Quote
j_b Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 We don't hear of busy-bodies there trying to regulate high fructose corn sweetener as a drug like the Dem-fucks you helped vote into office. Imagine being told what edible foods you are allowed to consume by your government--all in the name of "controlling health care costs". Are you implying it is better to have agribusiness decide what we should eat according to what is better for their wallet? let's cut subsidy to agribusiness (including the pricing of irrigation water) and we will see how long they think growing corn to add sugar to most everything is essential to our diet. j_b Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 How long did your friend have to wait? Infinitely less than the 47 millions individuals who don't have healthcare in the US. Quote
j_b Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I mean, if you want to argue that covering more people - especially those with serious, expensive, possibly terminal illnesses - would be significantly more expensive than refusing to cover those people the way the provider system does now, that's technically valid, but then we'd have to discuss, again, what the role of the government is in providing for all, and whether ethics dictate that all who need help receive it (if they can). He'd first have to show that not providing affordable health coverage to people is cheaper than giving them treatment in the emergency room because of that dangerous "socialist" idea, the hypocratic oath. Dhamma Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Preface: I am NOT a Republican Topic: Health Insurance Facet: If 50% of American families want it, 50% of American families need to fucking pay for it. No more whining. No freebies unless you are legitimately disabled. Don't like your lot in life? Life is hard sometimes. Have some personable accountability and make a change for the better. Stop being a liberal moocher shitstain and expect the government to bail you out--we only do that for multi-million dollar corporations run by white collar criminals. Solution: CUT the medic-aid system for all people who are not legitimately disabled, EXPEL all the illegals driving up our health care premiums presenting at the ER saturday night with non-emergent issues, and allow taxpayers to buy whatever kind of health insurance they want. You tell me: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/06/24/va-medical-shambles-veterans-groups-say/ "Amid growing controversy over procedures that exposed 10,000 veterans to the AIDS and hepatitis viruses, the Department of Veterans Affairs is now bracing against news that one of its facilities in Pennsylvania gave botched radiation treatments to nearly 100 cancer patients. Veterans groups and lawmakers say VA hospitals have permitted these violations because federal regulations allow doctors to work with little outside scrutiny. They say the VA health system, with its under-funded hospitals and overworked doctors, is showing signs of an "institutional breakdown," in the words of one congressman." Quote

Fairweather Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 It's indicative of the care we will receive under government care. Your point falls apart and you dodge like an aging ninja. Soldiers deserve better care. They paid for it with their service, asshole. Quote

olyclimber Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 well if we just used private contractors instead of having a "public" army, this would never be a problem. same with roads, schools, and the rest of it. Quote

Actually, since you've taken the position that the VA sucks, I'd like to know how you propose providing better care for soldiers? More money from the government. Should we take up a collection? Should the government give a contract for veterans health care to a private company? How about Halliburton? Quote

olyclimber Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I wasn't blaming Bush. The government is so ineffective that the gains realized by the Bush administration won't be reaped until 2020. This is Jimmie Carter's fault. Quote
