spionin Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Guess you failed to read the post above Lots of ice to get stoked about in the Apental area...even today, which was the warmest in a week. ok, i should have said that it "wasn't as fat as a few weeks ago" when i last climbed those lines, and it "killed my stoke to see them so famished". alex, thanks for the corrections on the names. AlpineMonkey Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Mazama Ice Does anyone on here know if any Mazama Ice is currently in condition. I checked the forcast today and it says a high of 37 today droping dowin to 13 degrees at night. It looks like similar trends go through the week. I'm looking for some ice to jump on this week. Quote
kevino Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 (edited) Any updates from banks lake? or strobach? Anything would be great. second question, how warm has it been in leavenworth during the day? Edited February 27, 2009 by kevino Quote
Paul_detrick Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 As of last weekend Banks was big and fat. Rained during the week, but should still be there. Was cold last nite, sunshine today. Going out Sunday to do something, whatever is left. Quote
kevino Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Banks Lake Conditions Update Brandon and I headed out there this morning and no good news to report. The cable was visible...the zenith and h202 could be climable if you like thin hollow tubes of ice. Those two were the only climbs that were connected the entire length. We ended up climbing at the devils punch bowl. Ice wasn't great and by the time we rapped down good chunks of ice were falling down. It was 41 degrees when we left. Quote
wayne Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Found great ice above Snow Lake today! Did the route furthest south along the Lake. Grade 2-WI3, 140m Great Skiing too with 2 feet of powder in places! You gotta go up high for ice now, but it is there for sure!! Quote
Paul_detrick Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Climbed at the Punchbowl again, did right, left and Troskis. Ice is great right now. If anyone wants to do a first lead now is the time. It was starting to rain when we left, so I would get on it now. Nothing but plastic ice today, just sucked front points right in. I wish there were more lines, but at least I got more laps in.I think its not going to last another weekend, but a couple more days for sure. Quote
Peakpimp Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Went out and played around on the Source Lake line near Alpental today with Mercyful Fate. It was clear cold and beautiful the route lies in the shade and should at least be in for the next few days. Plus there is a nicely packed slowshoe track to the base. Good fun! Here's a shot of Mercyful Fate climbing some overhanging mixed on TR. Source Lake line to the right with some other fun looking curtain up in the gully farther right. Quote
Mercyful Fate Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Hey Josh Thanks for the day out there! It was a real bonus on the season. Source Lake line what a classic!! Quote
