John_Scurlock Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 yes, I happened to hear it while driving to work. I thought she showed considerable guts to say what she said. Quote
ivan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 that about covers it for me! good shit, kij! Quote
dmuja Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 That was a cool read! Inspiring. During our breakup, I started climbing instead of killing my ex.. sort of the same thing... you know... if you think about it, it is.. really, it is...think about it... ok.. bye for now.. umm... thank you for your time... I mean... ok.. Quote
billcoe Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Well done! I think it more likely that climbers need to guard against the let down and suicidal feelings which may occur after we come off an amazing climb and get back to the humdrum boring job. Lots of climbers have done themselves in over the years. Quote
ivan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 alright then, all the sad, psychotic fucks who got into climbing as an alternative to suicide - please raise your hands! Quote
AlpineK Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 That was a good piece on the radio. Suicide... hmm. Some climbs are really casual, but other times you need remind yourself how close you're coming to an edge, and factors other than knot tying like weather come into play. Quote
