RJRiha Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Remember that healthcare was affordable before the HMO act of the 70s..... Or before the drug companies became embedded in Washington. Or before the huge string of laws considering what health insurance must cover. Or before excessive litigation caused doctor's malpractice insurance to go through the roof. In the 1960s, there was such a thing as a charity hospital where doctors would work one day a week alternating to provide care to the less fortunate. That ended when they started getting sued and required to follow all the administratium from Washington. Remember, over half of your healthcare cost is covering things caused by Washington. So we expect the same people who are causing our healthcare costs to skyrocket to fix the problem by adding in more intervention? Quote

KaskadskyjKozak Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Ever wonder what a feedback loop in an echo chamber sounds like? The truth huts, doesn't it Prole. Socialized health care is a lose-lose for America. Why not move to Cuba, Vietnam, or N. Korea? You'd be much happier in one of those places with priorities closer to your own. Quote
billcoe Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Perhaps you should acquire a helper monkey. He could watch the screen scroll by for you, do a better job of spraying by random key presses, jack off, and throw shit against the cube wall all at the same time. Speaking for myself, if we could all get an assistant like this, they're would be no need to television. Sounds entertaining. pink Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Anyone been watching? Did you see Ted Kennedy's speach? "Health care is a right, not a privilege" I could not agree more. yeh, to bad it's not in portland and not in denver. can't wait for the lib-tards to go back where they came from. what's up with the delegates and their stupid fucking hats. would someone google this for me please? Big Government meddling has screwed us and gotten us where we are today. So the solution is... more Big Government meddling? You're complete full of shit as usual. Do you even know one real root cause for America's higher cost of health care that's supported by any evidence? Even one? Bad legislation is not 'big government'. It's 'bad government'. Big Government, that is, lots of employees, lots of bureaucracy is Big Goverment, numbnuts. And it's not always more expensive than it's privatized alternative. Need I mention what we've overspent on private contractors in Iraq? American's pay more for health care primarily because doctors make more and hospitals and drug companies charge more than other countries. Many doctors get paid by the procedure, so go figure. Yes, legislation did play a role in this situation, but it's not at all clear (and probably not true) that a government run system would be more expensive than today's system. What certainly played a role is a conservative philosophy that has favored business interests over the general welfare for the past 40 years. Just for fun: Brief Washinton Post editorial By way of example, France, certainly no bastion of 'small government' arguably has the best healthcare system in the world in terms of coverage (100%), quality, and cost per person. It is a national system administered by private hospitals and doctors. You'll find similar systems throughout Europe that provide better medical care for about half the cost of care in the U.S. So much for your 'big government' schtick. Quote

prole Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 The truth huts, doesn't it Prole. Socialized health care is a lose-lose for America. Well when you use the term "lose-lose", it certainly raises some doubts in my mind. And when Alkoholeke suggests moving towards a police-state is a "win-win", it really gets me to thinking. And then, when you're able to smear anything that has to do with the government as "Socialism", I think you might be on to something. And then when Pee-Pee tosses in some statistics from an obscure think-tank, it makes me go hmmm... Then when.... Quote
