Alpinfox Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Freddie B is looking for a couple pictures for publication. Please post what you have for the East Butt of SEWS and a good quality shot of the North Peak of Index from the Road. Please post 600X800 max. We can get a hi-res version to Fred later. I'll point him to this thread after some quality entries have been posted. You won't get any money, but you will get your name in print as a photo credit. Quote
Alpinfox Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 I think a shot of climbers on the EB of SEWS taken from the summit of NEWS might look pretty cool. Anybody have a shot like that? Quote
fgw Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) don't have any long range shots, but here's a couple of my wife from the route itself: Edited April 30, 2008 by fgw Quote
ivan Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 joshk's n' me's TR of the saharan index traverse has got a # of index pix in it my favorite captures the "how the fuck do we get off this thing again" moment after the clouds had rolled in... wierd - looking back at the tr, a bunch of pix from my gallery, taken much later, have somehow found their way into the index one? ivan Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 That is a fabulous pic! it takes a sharp photographic skill-set like joshk's in order to render me palatable to the naked eye! Quote
spicoli11 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Nice pics roboboy...those look like canidates. Just for fun and useless for sews beta Quote
Off_White Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 That is a fabulous pic! it takes a sharp photographic skill-set like joshk's in order to render me palatable to the naked eye! better that than he should render you palatable to the eye, naked. Quote
ivan Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 better that than he should render you palatable to the eye, naked. that would be like trying to divide by zero Quote
joepuryear Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Not overly high quality, but good beta for the north face route... Quote
Off_White Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Have you got the negative Joe? It can be scanned and made pretty high resolution. That does have the makings of a good beta shot for a book. Quote
joepuryear Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 nah its digital - 7.2 MP. Looks fine at about 8"X6" at 300 dpi. Quote
Argus Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) If someone wants to crop the powerline out, that would be cool. Edited May 6, 2008 by Argus Quote
Off_White Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I couldn't resist playing with Joe's image a little to heighten the drama. Quote
Alpinfox Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 BUMP Howdy folks. Some good shots of Index. It would be nice to have a better picture of the East Butt on SEWS. I think Fred wants one from the base or the approach looking up at the buttress. Anybody have anything like that? He also wants a good picture of "the west side of Mt. Hood". Not sure if he means a long-range shot (like from PDX?) or something a little closer. Quote
John_Scurlock Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 He also wants a good picture of "the west side of Mt. Hood". Not sure if he means a long-range shot (like from PDX?) or something a little closer. He specifically mentioned winter views that showed Yocum Ridge, when I talked to him several months ago. My guess is a 'perspective' view that showed YR in good relief is what he would like. Quote
JoshK Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 That is a fabulous pic! it takes a sharp photographic skill-set like joshk's in order to render me palatable to the naked eye! I completely forgot about that picture...definitely captures the moment, with nothing being visible 500 feet away. Awesome epic descent 1 mile from the car... Quote
MisterMo Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I got, like, shopping bags full of pictures of Index. And then there's the digital stuff. East side? west side? Gimme a day or two to look... Quote
MisterMo Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Dumped the shopping bags and rummaged through the stuff. Nothing in there I think is too hot in the guidebook sense. Quote
