lazyalpinist Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Looking to get on some mid grade multi pitch in the Icicle. I was wondering if anyone has done R&D this season and how wet if at all it is on the upper portion? Thanks. Quote
kevino Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 If its on the north side of the canyon, which I think it is, then it is fine. Quote
lazyalpinist Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 OK, so low grade. I'm sure lots of stuff that is south facing is dry, but R&D usually has a decent drip higher up that may or may not be present. Quote
bwrts Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I would say, not likely. The Deproach will be wet and possibly full of snow patches. Furthermore, the drip in the chimney is probably seapping pretty regularly these days. Spring is late in the Leavenworth area. Recent snow events have further delayed many southfacing crags from becomming in good climbing shape. The crags at the entrance to both Tumwater and the Icicle are good to go FOR SURE. Quote
Crillz Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 R&D should be totally fine. I'm sure you can manage through what little wetness there may be. Have fun! Quote
lancegranite Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) Yes, you can easily manage the wetness. Edited April 4, 2008 by lancegranite Quote
ivan Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 drove past it y-day and it was in fine shape, assuming you're not a little girl Quote
bwrts Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 perhaps, ivan, the poster lazyalpinist is a little girl. Â glad to hear people are already getting after it on the 5.6 RandD... one of my favorite boulderclimbs in the icicle which I can't wait to climb again this year. Quote
telemarker Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Trundle Dome was great two weeks ago, with the usual slimy start to April Mayhem. Quote
Crillz Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Most of the S. facing stuff in the canyon is likely dry enough, at least it was Yesterday. Â Plus, only saw 1 wasp on Ski Tracks Crack! Quote
RuMR Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 whatever makes you feel big you twit. says the lad with bitch tits... Quote
lancegranite Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) Rock climbing is the new rock hounding. Roped climbing is so 2003, bouldering is the new 2005. R&D is the best easy roadside multi pitch climb in the canyon. Â Edited April 7, 2008 by lancegranite Quote
