WASHINGTON, DC. (AP) At 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a bright flash and sonic boom were reported across the Pacific Northwest and into parts of Canada. Firsthand reports and video surveillance describe the phenomena as a meteor from space.

However, a senior officer in the Air Force, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the phenomena was a large piece of the spy satellite that was destroyed by a missile at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. "We tracked the larger pieces of the destroyed satellite, and I can confirm that this 'meteor' was actually a large piece of debris from the explosion earlier this morning."

Calls made to the Air Force spokesman were not immediately returned.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Oh crap, it was suppose to have a smiley face in there somewhere. You must have read it with a frown. Dohhh! ...Sorry, don't be hatin'!

On a lighter note, they have this thing tracked to somewhere around where I was born in Eastern Washington.

.........coincidence....? I think not. Was watching War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise the other day.... and I must say that I'm very suspicious of this flaming meteorite, if things that look like Porter start crawling out of the ground anytime soon I'm moving into your basement.
