pink Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 which four could we do without, and still maintain a good ethics and morals. Quote
minx Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 well #1 is pointless and therefore #2 is also. and #3 oops and #4 also. what day is the sabbath anyway? that is uniquely religion specific the rest of them are useful Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 it's kinda funny that the first four listed are potentially the least important, in terms of living a humanistically ethical life. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 but the most important in solidifying christianity's grip. Quote
minx Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 i think we should rank them in order of importance Quote

Cremaster Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Nah, many are alive who should be dead. People just aren't that important to make a rule against killing them. Quote
pink Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 i've never felt the need to kill anyone, have you. Quote
minx Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 how about one commandnent: 1) be cool for once i find myself agreeing with pink Quote

tvashtarkatena Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The missing commandment: Take care of the place for the next folks who come along. Quote
ivan Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Nah, many are alive who should be dead. People just aren't that important to make a rule against killing them. gandalf would disagree w/ you, and he's my personal jeebus "Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends." Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Don Corleone was not so circumspect: "Some men go through life begging to be killed." Quote
rob Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 omg, we have to keep 6??? Fucking puritan Quote
archenemy Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 If the ethics and the morals that you are referring to are the Christian ethics and morals, then the first commandment becomes the most important. Quote
marylou Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 The missing commandment: Take care of the place for the next folks who come along. That one would never get the 2/3 majority required to make a Commandmental Amendment. Quote
ivan Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Don Corleone was not so circumspect: "Some men go through life begging to be killed." don corleone treated objects like women man! Quote
murraysovereign Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 #10 - Thou shalt not covet. WTF? I'm not allowed to want anything? Why not? As long as I don't do anything that could be construed as violating #8 "Thou shalt not steal", why shouldn't I be able to want anything I damned well feel like wanting? I say we lose #1-4 and #10, and add in "Thou shalt not wreck the place". That leaves us with a nice, easy to carry six-pack of commandments, and I think it will find much greater acceptance among the general public than the current ten. Quote
archenemy Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I like the six pack idea! But we gotta keep #1; it really is the key. Without it, there is no author of the rest of them (at least the first draft). How about we dump #7 on exchange? Sex is no one elses business--just the three people involved. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 murray's a canadian, so that would be 2 people and a sheep. Quote
Hugh Conway Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 whats sex without the coveting before hand? Quote
