JoshK Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 The weather report looks like the next week might bring a significant amount of snow to the Cascades, in particular the higher elevations. Who has ideas for good locations for some higher (4500+) touring that will still be accessible by road due to the early date in the season. I'm looking for some new areas to poke round in for the next 2 to 3 weeks. thanks! -josh Quote

JoshK Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 DONE and done! Now, who has skiing ideas besides this useless thread-jacking russian? Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm sure there are a lot of better ideas, but some of the obvious ones would be Paradise, Heliotrope Ridge, Heather Meadows. Quote
ericb Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I think a saw a recent TR mention that the road is gated @ Eldorado TH now....only 3 miles more each way, but might be easier places to get turns Quote
Bug Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Is it too early for a second descent of the NF of Chair? Quote
AllYouCanEat Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) Josh, try this out. Mount baker last weekend: Other than rainier, these are going to be your easiest turns. Otherwise, hitting cascade pass up works. There isn't a lot of snow on the pass though. You need to get around 6500 for good consistant snow, although you can ski to 5k or so. After this week that is going to change Ruth Mountain is always fun. I was up on Eldorado this weekend and that was awesome although bit of work for skiing just yet. JoshK Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Ahh, awesome pictures. That looks incredible. I was thinking Eldorado and Baker, so looks like those are still in the running. I hope this system brings as much snow as it possibly can. Quote
