New BD Ice Screws

So.....it looks like places are offering sales on the bd express screws. Does anyone have any info on if they are giving them an update and running with a new design for this winter.

I believe its been announced in a couple of other threads, but yeah, the express screws are getting an update. I just got the new BD Iceclimbing catalog in the mail the other day. They changed the tooth geometry, added larger crank knobs, and a second clip in point.

I bought a few of the new ones at Marmot last month. In addition to the improvements mentioned above, the hangers don't rust and the crank handles are color coded by screw size.

they're pretty effin sweet. they go in super easy due to the teeth geometry because they beveled the inside edge instead of it being flat. The coffee grinder is conical now so they are easier to take out. leave it to BD to make the best and keep blowing everyone away.

the new design is in all ways an improvement to an already great screw. that second clip-in point and the larger taper in the design is schweeeet

I used the new design (partner had a couple) a couple weeks ago on Obs Rock. I really really liked the second clip in point. Very handy.

I have no clue as I have never used them, but in my humble opinion it looks like that huge secondary clip in hole sticks up so much it will not allow the screw to start as easy when you are doing the manipulating through the palm of your glove.
