Cpt.Caveman Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Ok all this talk about burgers hows about some brewskies! Guinness #1 in my book Quote
titsmack Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 duval very complex taste. seven bucks a pint. cannot be beat. Quote
Bronco Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Mac and Jacks African Amber is good, but not as good as Guiness. Also great is Headstrong Pale Ale brewed by the Big Hole Brewery in Bozeman, MT. Best guzzling beer latley is Coors "banquet" beer or plain old Rainier in a can. Quote
Jman Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 With chips and salsa? Pacifico or Dos Eqis/XX (sp?) After a hot day and working really hard? Pyramid Hefe. On a cold winter day warming up next to a fire? Winterhook. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted June 28, 2001 Author Posted June 28, 2001 the close second of mine is Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Yummy! I need an icon with beer drinkin here ! Quote
chucK Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Guinness! I think I'm gonna puke. Guiness is the Starbucks of the fancy-pants beer world. Only thing worse than Guiness is that other stupid English beer with the f'n stupid widgit in it. Blech. Guiness, the day-old-coffee taste you love to pose to. Chuck Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted June 28, 2001 Author Posted June 28, 2001 You see chuck I said Guinnes because you get the taste of a cigarette with your beer Quote
willstrickland Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 bottled: Sammy Smiths Oatmeal Stout draft: Tie: McTarnahan's Black Watch Cream Porter on nitrogen, Luck Labrador's Stumptown Porter on nitrogen Quote
specialed Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 The best beer is the one you drink after being in the backcountry for multiple days, drinking nothing but water and tang. Same with burgers: hunger is the best spice. Quote
willstrickland Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Best beer on earth? The one you find at the bottom of the haulbag on day 4 of a planned 3 day wall. Quote
Kyle Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Boy, talk about a lot of people having a slow day at work My favorite lately is Caffrey's Irish Ale. It's available in cans & is OK, but if you get a chance to quaff it on tap in a London pub... ohhhh baby... Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted June 28, 2001 Author Posted June 28, 2001 Yes I am braggin and I have taken the tour of the Guinnes Brewery in Dublin and chugged down many pints of heavey in that town too Quote
Dru Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Unibroue "Eau Benite", "La Maudite" and "La Fin Du Monde" www.unibroue.com Quote
verticalswamp Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 I still laugh about the nutter I met in Frenchman's who started the conversation with," America makes the best beer in the world." Boy I haven't laughed that much in ages. That's what a head injury and years of staring at fish can do to you. Why is it that every micro figures a massive hop bombardment means good. Go smooth, go Boddingtons or Castle Eden. What beer is supposed to taste like. Quote
Kyle Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 To paraphrase an old gag (Monty Python I think)- "American Beer is like making love in a canoe... it's fucking close to water!" Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted June 28, 2001 Author Posted June 28, 2001 However much better than our neighbors beer in Canada in my opinion Waiting for Duella to respond to that. Quote
specialed Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Dru: My favorite when I'm visiting our wonderful neighors to the north, Old Style Pilsner, eh? Good enough for ALex Lowe, good enough for me! Quote
Dru Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Them's fightin' words Cavey! Bring on the battle cage! I seem to recall you drinking half of a case of COORS LIGHT and thimblebellying out, I had to drink the rest... that's the action to go with your talk of pints of heavy! Quote
Lambone Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 MOOSE DROOL!!!! From the tap of course. Mt. all the way! Quote
EddieE Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Not necessarily in this order: Moose Drool Black Butte Porter E-9 Oatmeal Stout Pike Place Kilt Lifter Pabst Blue Ribbon When I'm in Canada, the only beers worth a couple of toonies are Wart Hog and Grasshopper ales. and oh yeah...Guiness Sucks. Quote
willstrickland Posted June 28, 2001 Posted June 28, 2001 Pike Kilt Lifter! I second that emotion, that's some damn good ale. If you guys think american beer sucks so bad, you should come down here to Portland for the waterfront brewers festival. P'town is beervana!!! Rogue Shakespear stout and Mocha Porter are pretty damn good too, although way overpriced. Maybe we should break this down into categories: Stout, Porter, Pale Ale, Red Ale, Scotch Ale, Amber Ale, Brown Ale, Pilsner, Lager, ESB, Alt, and alcoholic sodapop. For the cheap shit, PBR can't be beat...$1.48 40oz at the Safeway on my block. Quote
