archenemy Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I think they should make a speculum model that vibrates. Discuss. Quote
Dechristo Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 could help to relax the vaginal walls providing easier access to the cervix. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I bought one for my g/f and she loves it  Quote
Dechristo Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I didn't know there were models who display the latest speculum designs. What? Do they cart 'em down the runway on their backs, legs in stirrups? Quote
G-spotter Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 i ex'spec't that a designer wearing horn-rimmed spex could design one for you on spec Quote
archenemy Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 No no no, the announcer said "horse show", not a "whore's show". There are no models for this; they break in half when the spec is opened. Quote
bstach Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Europe is much more open when it comes to using models for demonstrating medical devices. For example, it is common to see a pregnant model at a Radiology trade show having an ultrasound performed with the lastest ultrasound equipment. Doesn't happen here. I can only imagine what they would do with a vibrating speculum. Gunter Von Hagen also does live public autopsies in Europe. Don't think that would fly here. These could be combined if a vibrating speculum broke in half a Brazilian supermodel. Quote
AlpineK Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Here's a speculum Speculum, published quarterly since 1926, was the first scholarly journal in North America devoted exclusively to the Middle Ages. It is open to contributions in all fields studying the Middle Ages, a period ranging from 500 to 1500. Its primary emphasis is on Western Europe, but Arabic, Byzantine, Hebrew, and Slavic studies are also included. Speculum is received by all members of the Medieval Academy as a benefit of membership. Agencies and institutions receive the journal by subscription. If you speculate about the middle ages maybe you can get your theory published. Quote
Off_White Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I think they should make a speculum model that vibrates. Discuss. You might be unique among women I know, in that you're the only one I've ever heard consider the titillating possibilities of a visit to the gynecologist. Do you have any ideas to spiff up the mammogram experience beyond the usual sensation of your boob between two frozen plates of steel with a car parked on top? Quote
archenemy Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Yes, take the Xray machine they use to view nuclear warheads and stop wasting the money. These could be used to get much clearer, acurate Xrays for women so breast disease could be detected and eradicated much, much earlier. And we get to watch porn for free while this painless, life-saving process is going on. He-whore should be made available for a minimal fee for the more adventurous (I would, of course, take two). bstach Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I worked for a company that was developing an alternative to the traditional mammogram. It was based on diffractive energy imaging technology, essentially pass-thru ultrasound (as opposed to traditional reflective ultrasound). Imagine laying on your front on a table with a trap door leading to a tank of warm water. One at a time, the breasts are dipped into the water where the ultrasound transducer is. This seems much more comfortable. In fact, some of our clinical trial subjects fell asleep during the procedure. Sadly, the medical industry takes a long time to warm-up to new technology and the company went under. I never did find out who now owns the intellectual property to this promising technology. Quote

It sure would be nice if this were adopted by our health care system. This is so important. Quote
bstach Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 It sure would be nice if this were adopted by our health care system. This is so important. Screening is sooo important and is a win-win both for the women and for the healthcare system in reducing costs in the long run. I agree making the procedure more patient friendly will only encourage more women to get screened regularly. Quote
catbirdseat Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Gunter Von Hagen also does live public autopsies in Europe. Don't think that would fly here. We don't allow vivisection in this here great country of ours. No sir! Quote
thatguy Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Back to the original concept. Might be a great marketing idea for my wife's clinic. Anyone running with this? Quote
archenemy Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 They are all good ideas. Each and every one of them. Bless your little hearts. Quote
