billcoe Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Link Edelwiess Axis 10.3 x 70m dry rope $129. plus shipping Quote
counterfeitfake Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Can anyone speak to the quality if Edelweiss ropes? Quote
selkirk Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I've got an Edelweiss Laser, 9.8. Has held up quite well. Only thing that is less than ideal is that it has a bit of a stiff hand to it. Not exactly slinky like the Mammut's or Beals I've played with. Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Stiff can be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. Stiff ropes are less likely to form hockles. Quote
Moof Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I've got a 60m Axis, though I thought mine was 10.6mm, can't remember. Definately cable, but works just fine, it's been moderately abused on trad and some aid trips. No complaints, but definately cable compared to most. Quote

gapertimmy Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/hot-deals/climbing/ Some rope sales up here too. Pretty close on the Beal 10.2 deal. Quote

billcoe Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Dude, you gotta post a separate thread so people (my partners) can buy those damn OP cams. It's an amazing price. Hey, I just went to fetch the link and no link or cams showed! Shite! Fortunatly I have 3 coming. Proving only once again that if you snooze- you do lose. Quote
gt5816v Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I picked up a OP #2 at REI with 20% off it wasn't much more and I had to burn up my dividend anyway... Quote
dberdinka Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Just picked up a new pair of twins. Finally retiring the old ones after (gulp!) 9 yrs I think? Thanks for the tip Billcoe! Quote
The Jerk Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I saw it just before I turned off the computer the other night for bed. So I ordered a set of the Link Cams and went to bed with a smile. They should be delivered to me tomorrow! Thanks! Quote
billcoe Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 I get all my ropes for free. Say what? If you need any distant relatives to show up and accept hand-me- downs let me know cause I'll apply. Quote
billcoe Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 BTW, mine showed up and they rate VERY high on the fondling scale. Can't wait until I can get out and actually plug em in. Quote
The Jerk Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 If youre talking about the Link Cams, I agree, VERY high on the fondling scale. Plugged them in some deco bricks at work. Held nice. What the hell I had to use them on something! Quote
hemp22 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I actually passed on buying any of the link cams at that great price (I'm trying to cut down on my gear-whore-ness). But I do already own one of the yellow link cams, and I agree that it's a great toy. Since I bought it, I've been getting some good use out of it as a 2nd piece in the #.75-#2 camalot range. And don't worry Bill, next time I see a great deal like that I'll start a new thread to make sure it gets noticed. Quote
rockermike Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Hey there, My main rope is 50 mtrs. So maybe I'm dumb and too stubborn to replace it until it wears out. And just what is wrong with the '70's? 50 mtrs: cheaper, lighter, less gear, you can still hear your partner. So there. (oh yea; it never wears out because my partners all refuse to climb with the thing - great money saving strategy :-) ) Edited March 21, 2007 by rockermike Quote
billcoe Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 Mike, hope you've retired the goldline by now. BTW - weren't you the person who almost patented the saying "My rack your rope"? BTW, if you get up here to visit relatives or anything, look me up we'll go do somepin'. Been a long long time. Take care Bill Coe Quote
