Weekend_Climberz Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17062674/ That's kind of whack Quote
kevbone Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 That is whack is it actually happened. That pic is not conclusive. Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Your thread title is not very accurate. Hobos are people who are homeless, but choose to wander from place to place, some by choice. The people described in the article are not only homeless, but gravely ill and unable to care for themselves. It's sick and it's wrong what is being done to these people, and hospitals are going to be punished for it. Quote

It's nice to see good sumaritans taking photos and writing down liscense plates so these people can be put away. Quote
chucK Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 It's the Kaskadykojak solution to reform welfare and big government. Though often mischaracterized as "kill the poor", proponents like to think of it as "setting them adrift". Quote

chucK Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 You've advocated eliminating Social Security, i.e. removing governmental safety nets. The above story is a real-life reductio ad absurdum example of how the free market would handle the helpless indigent. What do you think we should do about these indigent invalids who end up at hospitals that can't pay for their care, but who will die without it? Whose problem is someone who's opted out of Social Security (your previously-stated druther) and ended up destitute, starving and dying? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 My wife was attacked by a homeless psychotic. He slammed her onto the pavement, she fought, and escaped. He killed another woman later that day by doing the very same thing. A friend in our own neighborhood was slammed into the sidewalk so hard that her face looks like Dick Cheney missed another shot. Again, by a homeless psychotic. Policies that set these people adrift are neither good for them nor good for the rest of us. Quote

Seems that this might be the result of big government itself...clearly a case of misallocated resources. But anyway KK dont take it too personaly a petty insult thrown from behind is typical of the passive agression shown on this site and clearly reveals the lack of a coherant arguement. I remember sometime ago ChucK began a thread where I was asked by name my opinion on an article. I gave a quick one and no reply came from ChucK. Afterwards I thought about it and realized he has no underlying philosophy or understanding. His conclusion is a priori. The veracity of anything he reads is judged soley on if it confirms his pre-existing beliefs. Come the revolution baby...... Edited February 9, 2007 by Peter_Puget Quote

chucK Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Hey PP, Sorry I didn't reply to your post in that other thread. It didn't seem like you were asking me any questions. I thought it was great that you actually answered and I thank you for it. I was totally unaware that my lack of reply somehow breached decorum. I'll try not to make that mistake in the future. Quote
