Stefan Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 So what is the least visited mountain group in British Columbia? Would this group also be considered the most remote in British Columbia? (By remote, I mean from any logging road.) [ 11-22-2002, 03:08 PM: Message edited by: Stefan ] Quote
fern Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 how do you define "mountain group"? my vote goes with some of the areas in the Northern Rockies. Quote
Dru Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 Probably the Cassiar or Omineca Ranges, and yep. I dont know of anyone who has ever really visited any of them. Probably a lot of unclimbed peaks. Of course they tend not to be all that spectacular... highest ones are mid 2000ms, like 2700... not many big walls either I don't think. The Omineca is the same geological body as the Purcell-Selkirk group (think Bugaboos??) supposed to be lots of granite according to my geological courses. There is info available on bivouac.com in terms of peak names and heights but little else. write us up a TR if you go. Quote
Stefan Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 Dru, I am still in a wheelchair! I am just thinking of possibilities for my next vacation..... Quote

Well ya, so write us a TR in 6 months when you go there... I bet the blood flow from thinking about all those unclimbed peaks, into the muscles, helps the healing process Quote
Stefan Posted November 26, 2002 Author Posted November 26, 2002 I can't find a decent picture of any peaks in the Omenica or Cassair range ANYWHERE. Does anybody have any suggestions? Quote

fern Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 you ask for the most remote range that people almost never visit and then lament the lack of photos? does the paradox escape you? fairly crap photos of the mountains around Cassiar: Quote
plexus Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Love seeing the juxtaposition of the nice neat square town blocks in the middle of nowhere. What town is that? It it on the Corsair Highway? Quote

Could you imagine? That's environmentalism worthy of our head of state! Quote
