powderhound Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 If ice climbing becomes the nest bouldering I am going to shit my pants . Maybe this belogns is spary but it will get more attenion here. Does anyone know if it is a profession climber? If so which one? I saw it during the half time commerical of the Ohio state Florida Game, the ice climber was climbing ice that was shaped like a budweiser crown on the side of a dark mountian. Quote
Couloir Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I didn't see it, but perhaps it's the same 'ice climber' in the Lexus commercial...leashed I might add...pussy. gZ2SqeVTVC0 (nice car though) Quote
mountainmatt Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Good to know that having a Lexus and ice climbing go hand in hand. Quote
enelson Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 i want to see someone open a budweiser with their crampon while ice climbing Quote
Jens Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 My buddy ChrisS. has climbed the waterfall on the Coors can! Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 wtf? 8 sec into the Lexus one, he swings his ADZE into the ice and weights it. Quote
MattMc Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I climbed the peak on the Kokanee beer bottle a few years ago (Giant's Kneecap, Kokanee glacier) Quote
Couloir Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 wtf? 8 sec into the Lexus one, he swings his ADZE into the ice and weights it. Actually he doesn't. I thought the same thing. But if you play it and stop right when he swings, you'll notice he swings the proper end. Quote
Dechristo Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 My buddy ChrisS. has climbed the waterfall on the Coors can! I pissed the waterfall on the Coors can. Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 It's really weird. Looks like the ice tools aren't matching. And the second tool he swings has the curve of the shaft the wrong way, it seems. Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 In the next shot, he's high-stepping awfully high when unnecessary. Though I'm a wimpy ice climber, I take much smaller steps with my feet. Quote
syudla Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Kim Reynolds exhorts high-steps When Kim Reynolds does it, it is a much smaller step Quote
MattMc Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 ...and high stepping like that puts one's scrotum in unnecessary jeopardy of getting snagged by a heel point should the 'pon sheer [girls 1, guys 0] Quote
syudla Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 My buddy ChrisS. has climbed the waterfall on the Coors can! I pissed the water in the Coors can. figures Quote
sill Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) Ice climbing is far too expensive an too region dependent for it to become all that popular.(although one look at the Ouray Ice Park on a holiday weekend might make it seem different) A kid can go down to a shop and drop a couple of hundred bucks on shoes, chalkbag and bouldering pad and have all the shit he/she really needs to get started. Ice climbing of course requires a bunch of expensive gear and somewhat close proximity to accessable ice. Ice climbing is also cold and miserable most of the time, which is far outside of most americans comfort level. Edited January 11, 2007 by sill Quote
Chad_A Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Then Americans need to suck it up and make the requisite 13 hour road trip. Too cold? Bullshit Quote
