Winter Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Schweet! Who's up for a winter ascent of Beligerence? Quote
G-spotter Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 (edited) North Vancouver hills got 140mm of rain in 24 hrs today. That's probably over 2m of fresh snow at Wadd using the 10:1 snow to rain ratio and figuring total precip would be higher at 3000m than at 500m... Not to mention the 100km/h wind gusts. curtveld Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Great stuff John. Can your rig day-trip it up there from Concrete? Holy crap, the photogenic peak options just multiplied! Quote
John_Scurlock Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Can your rig day-trip it up there from Concrete? That was a day trip. Departed here at 0715, back in the home territory at about 2.30 pm. We normally cruise at about 190+ mph, all the photography is conducted at 100 - 120 mph. Customs & refueling adds some time. It is a little different to head up there, however, as opposed to, say, running up to Baker's summit in ten min or so. Quote
Zoran Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Waddington is amazing! I hope you will one day find time, energy and spare fuel to fly over SW BC mountains (Chehalis, Joffre area, Rexford, Garibaldi etc.) Thank you for your pictures. Zoran Quote
G-spotter Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 or how about some photos of this: from lower than 25,000 feet. Quote
ScottPick Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hey Drew I know this is an old post but is that..... Headwall Creek with Klite and/or Portal Peak?? Looks like it to me. Was going to fly over that way last Sunday but Mr. Pilot swayed us to fly a quick lap around Waddington. Oh the torture.... And about John. I think its cool when Yanks venture up here and are not totally obsessed by their own state/country. Its no secret that the REAL mountains start north of the 48th parrallel. Yes we should grab the Picket Range then all cool peaks outside Alaska would be ours (evil laugh...) Quote
AlpineK Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Some of us in the states are Northwesterners first and Americans second. You can't have the pickets though. We need some cool peaks that don't require a passport to access. That being said I've spent a ton of time in BC and Alberta. Quote
ScottPick Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 1/2 a degree south and this would be ours: And damn what were we thinking we should have outbid the US for Alaska. A few bottles of vodka could have sealed the deal and then we would have ALL the best peaks (evil laugh...) Quote
