catbirdseat Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Old news. I'm too lazy to use two carabiners. Instead, I have a figure eight knot tied near the end loop. That way if the stiching blows there is not catastrophic failure. And yes, I know that the knot weakens the daisy. Instead of 20 kN it is probably only 10 kN. I always belay tied in using the rope anyway. Quote
David Trippett Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 VERY old news indeed CBS. Yet, you'd be astonished how many gumbies show up in Squish using their daisies like this.... Quote
powderhound Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I just bought one and I love this thing Quote
plexus Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I got two of those PAS for my wife and myself after reading about how using a daisy can make you push up the daisies!!! Quote
still_climbin Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I've used one all season and I think they're great. Absolutely no issues with anchoring. Quote
sk Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I just bought one and I love this thing oh how i want one of those Quote
shapp Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 been using a clove hitch in the rope for about 15+ years and still alive. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Always someone says that. Do you use that when you are rappelling too? No question, you can't beat the rope as a tie-in. It's adustable even! At some point you'll likely need an independent anchor, be it a sling or whatever. Quote
bstach Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I'm soooo surprised this thread hasn't gone to spray yet. What's up? Quote
shapp Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 tie in with rope on way up, slings on way down, then don't have extra shiz getting in the way. Quote
Jens Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I can't stand daisy chains. I only use them on walls. Quote
Mos_Chillin Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Even when I use a daisy, I always back it up with the rope. Easy. If you use double ropes, you shouldn't even use a daisy. Quote
powderhound Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I just bought one and I love this thing oh how i want one of those Don't worry they are just for leaders anyways... Quote
