chucK Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I'm gonna be in Forks this weekend with family (kids and relatives and such). Anybody got any good tips for what we should definitely do? Thinking mostly nice short* hikes out near the ocean, but other rec's are welcome. *short by cc.com "Olympus in a day" standard. Short by "Das Toof in a day" standard even better. How about any grub recommendations? How about stuff to do right in Forks? Please reply quickly. Leave in 2 hours! Quote

JayB Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I've heard that there are some cool lowland hikes through the river valleys there with amazing trees. Hiking through the woods and hitting a swimming hole sounds like a pretty nice day to me. Quote
chucK Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 ..some of these aren't sounding like very good family activities I was packing last night and unthinkingly put in a conservation society type shirt in the mix. I came to my senses and replaced it with one proclaiming my allegiance to Nike® Quote

Alpinfox Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 ..some of these aren't sounding like very good family activities I know someone who was conceived at the Norweigan Memorial. If that isn't a good "family activity", I don't know what is. Quote
chucK Posted August 4, 2006 Author Posted August 4, 2006 How do you find this Norwegian Memorial Beach TH? If it's too secret for broadcasting to the world, I think PM'ing me the directions would be OK, since I'm special. Quote
olyclimber Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 You'll never find it. Its locals only, you don't want to get beat up, do you? Quote
lancegranite Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Third beach bouldering Low tide is preferred, consult tide tables before starting out. Most boulders are south of the trail, some kinda manditory 2nd/ 3rd class, nice sand landings. Water shoes a plus for aqua- rich sit starts. Quote
