sweatinoutliquor Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 MSN Story LAS VEGAS - A Las Vegas company is putting a new extra-large ambulance into service to handle extra-large patients. American Medical Response calls the $250,000 rig its bariatric unit. It bought it at the request of the Clark County Fire Department. The vehicle looks like a regular ambulance, but it’s extra-wide, and has a larger gurney, a winch and ramps capable of loading up to 1,600 pounds. A company official said that in the last six months, AMR has handled 75 calls involving patients that weighed more than 600 pounds. He said moving someone that large in a regular ambulance poses safety problems for the patient — and for paramedics and ambulance crew members. Sorry if this was already posted Quote

Johnny_Tuff Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Funny. Apparently hospitals are now including bariatric accommodations when they remodel or expand (expand--ha ha). Must be a bummer not to fit through a 3-0 door, and to break the toilet off the wall when you sit down. Quote
Off_White Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 The Great John toilet is just the ticket! Witness the difference in comfort offered by the larger seat! Quote

DirtyHarry Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 (edited) No No. We need to put them in camps and harvest their blubber to make biodiesel and solve our country's energy problem. Why won't the government listen to me on this!!!! Edited March 30, 2006 by DirtyHarry Quote

The helpful animation was a bit more than I ever needed to see. Some kind of scatological-logistics reflected ceiling plan...ugh! Quote
