MisterMo
JoshK it stopped snowing and started raining almost exactly when I went out about 5 this morning . It rained pretty hard all day to make certain I got good and fucking wet , and then (mail in your protests) changed back to heavy snow early enough to give me a couple of inches to sweep off my car . Â Howz that for whinin'? Â I am torn between being stoked that it's actually being a good skiing winter and being bummed that I can't do all the cool stuff I did last January when it was warm & sunny. stillcrankin
Mr Mo Sir, Â Last week in Tahoe we had 10" of rain in three days with a snow level of 9500'. I didn't have to shovel it. I didn't have to work in it. I didn't have to thrash getting over the passes. Â I'm trying to think of the downside......
MisterMo
Mister Crankin, sir.... Â One obvious downside is the spectre of having to find and hold a real job, as opposed to, say, napping on a snowmobile in the sun, on Uncle's dime, with occasional breaks for ice cream bars. But that's not til March

at this exact time last year it was -15C and there were 100 unclimbed ice routes within 30 minutes drive ofmy home

willstrickland
We gots no snow in the SquareBanks. It's extremely thin here and historically the Oct-Jan half of the winter is when we get most of the precip. XC trail conditions are the ultra suck...no new precip in a month and around -20. The Yukon Quest sled dog race (~1000mi) is not far off and the Yukon river hasn't frozen over at the crossing, there is virtually no snow on the leg into Whitehorse nor on the leg out of North Pole. Â And aren't Texas and OK burning down? Â What climate change?
Dru
but there's record breaking snowfall in japan, and it froze in delhi yesterday!

Dr_Crash
It better not stop snowing. And these snow levels better go down. Being soaked by "snow" falling is just wrong. Â drC
letsroll
Ya this stinks for climbing right now but with any luck we get a huge snow pack and snow routes last hella lot longer in the late spring and summer. Was thinking about heading to Thielson for a newbie trip, but that is not looking like such a good idea for this weekend.
Gary_Yngve
Looks like its supposed to switch from snow to rain just before the weekend and then go back to snowing. Grrrr.

plexus
We have one of the best powder winters in the mountains in recent history here in Colorado, and the Front Range is burning. It's been about 25 days since any precip in Denver. Â Can I tell you the fun in doing the logistics for four photogs a reporter and two live trucks at 2:30 am in the morning. Stupid arsonist. Burnt out 2,700 acres of open space between Golden and Boulder.
