Distel32 Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 thread for pics: post up ice, rock, alpine and whatever else it is you AARP members do. pics by Alpinfox, May 2004 I think... Quote
pope Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Those are nice but I think I like your work better. You've captured some striking images and I appreciate skilled photography. Maybe the best thing about your photographs, however, is that YOU DONN'T APPEAR IN THEM. Quote
layton Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 luke isn't a megalomaniac. he's just psyched and has the stoke. don't be mean to luke. if you want megalomania, i've got it covered for ya. Quote

Off_White Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Distel style photo assault. There are bolts in every picture. Quote
ashw_justin Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Hey Larabee, did you ever top out into the cracks? I thought they were sorta cool (solo toproped however). Quote
ashw_justin Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Distel style photo assault. There are bolts in every picture. Is that your crag? That looks awesome. Quote
Dru Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Tell that dude that white shorts make his ass look fat Quote
CPOly Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Is that your crag? That looks awesome. Yep, that's the Hercules quarry. You're right, it is pretty awesome. Tell that dude that white shorts make his ass look fat When you can crank like Drederek, who cares how your ass looks Quote
billcoe Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Who on this page is in AARP? *cough* cough* Err: changing the subject* cough* Hey here's something way different: a rock pic where ya need a rack: last month in Vegas. Doing the classics with my foot taped. I should just lose some weight but hey....hmmm...trying..... Quote
billcoe Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Well that went poorly. back to the rest home. Quote
Off_White Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Here you go Bill, I resized 'em while I was at it, but I can't seem to make them not be fuzzy. I must need your glasses. Quote
Off_White Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Bill #3 NOTE: if you check out the larger version of this shot, you can make out the party on the next pitch. Quote
billcoe Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Thanks Off White! I think I need one of those cameras that focus. Fortunatly that was just last month so I still have the memories burned in my brain, apologies to the rest of you. These were some of the better ones too so you can imagine what some that were left in the shit pile looked like (envision a fuzzy out of focus photo of part of a foot for instance). Cheers! Side note: John, are you bouldering on ice? I don't see a rope. Quote
Off_White Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 That last one was good, and worth looking at in large size, since you can scope out the upper part of the wall. That upper party needs to learn to use some long slings link to larger photo Quote
chirp Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Dark Shadows is a very fun route! Nice pics! Damn I miss RR Quote
Dru Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I would like to credit Distel32 with the inspiration for this series of buildering photos. all chestbeating aside I feel qualified to state that these two problema are in a league of difficulty all their own - likely V18 but I am going to rate them V17 now and let any repeat ascensionists upgrade them if they can! Special thanks to Andy Cairns for discivering these unclimbed masterpieces at a secret Fontainbleau like spot. Quote

Cairns Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Special thanks to Andy Cairns for discovering these unclimbed masterpieces at a secret Fontainbleau like spot. Special thanks to Andy Cairns for discovering these unclimbed masterpieces at a secret Fontainbleau like spot. Futuristic! You found a whole new side of the formation. On the subject of pictures, the entries to the photo contest were excellent. The submissions were inspirational and affirmative. One could almost see and hear Julie Andrews prancing in an alpine meadow. However, the darker side of climbing was overlooked. Not the infinite possibilities of psychological torment or the art of physical suffering at high altitudes, just the mundane misery every climber knows a little about. A woman reviewer had this to say about a book written by men about their relationships with women: I found the stories to be well-written and honest and funny, but most of them lacked an important element, something every woman looks for in a man - raw emotion. A few pictures of raw emotion then: A girl walking home from school in Toronto: THE ART OF SUFFERING UNCOMFORTABLE SLEEPING PLACES: SUFFERING COLD HANDS OR FEET: SUFFERING THROUGH A NURSING SCHOOL CLASS LISTENING TO INSPIRATIONAL AND AFFIRMATIVE MESSAGES: SPORT CLIMBER OR BOULDERER SUFFERING AFTER GETTING NEAR THE TOP OF THEIR PROJECT AND HEARING THEIR HARDCASE FRIENDS SWITCH INTO INSPIRATIONAL AFFIRMATIVE BLATHER MODE: Quote
