i suppose i may get hammered for this one, but hopefully within the amusing comments, ill find a good answer.

wire gates are stronger, lighter and not subject to gate flutter or freezing up, right? i guess lockers need them, but wheres the advantage to solid gate non-locking biners? and bent gate? easier to clip than straight gate maybe, but easier than wires?

Ever set up a carabiner rap system with wire gates?

Yes. OP Dovals and BD Ovalwires work fine.

I bent an OP Doval gate during a carabiner rap system such that the gate was/is now outside the nose and tweaked to one side. I can post a pic later but I would say stay away from wiregates on rap.

Here's why: After donning your laderhosen and kletterboots, then draping your goldline properly over your shoulder you need an appropriate set of 'biners for racking you hexentrics and corded stoppers.

Hope that helps explain it.

If you want keylock biners, there's only one wiregate that offers such a mechanism and at retail it is pretty expensive (last I checked). Just throwing that out there.

Pretty sure your biners are not going to make or break your climbs. Unless they suck, of course. In which case you might die. Which is bad.

Do you see an f'ing american flag on a porsche? The porsche cayenne's windows do not accomodate multiple american flag + ala mater flag attachments during events such as the apple cup, or oregon/oregon state civil war. Typical that I have to spell it out for a canuck.
