MisterMo Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 And then there's the ones that grow "Where the trees have leaves of prisms That break the light in colors That no one knows the names of." and you half expect Jiminy Cricket...spats, cane, and all...to jump out and burst into song Quote
olyclimber Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I've seen what you're describing first hand. Then these clouds turned into faces, and argued philosophy. It was a grand time. Quote
EWolfe Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 The other ones are feeling a little left out here... Quote
knotzen Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 When I was 19 and we couldn't get anyone to by beer for us, a bunch of us went out and picked whatever mushrooms we could find. We made a sort of milk shake. Didn't get me high, and fortunately, didn't kill me either. Kids! Quote
ChrisT Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I only took mushrooms once, about 20 years ago, and ended up sleeping with a guy who I suspect was a virgin and then he wanted to marry me. Quote
Billygoat Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Well, I did want to marry you, but I certainly wasn't a virgin. I was just excited... Quote
Dechristo Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I tried to get my Mom to do mushrooms back in '73. Instead, she got into real estate. I rue my failed attempt. Oh, the humanity. Quote
MisterMo Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 The other ones are feeling a little left out here... True........ These are among my favorites to see but should definitely not be eaten. These are a bit too graphic for my tastes even if they were edible, which I doubt. And these are both plentiful right now and very good to eat. Quote
Double_E Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 And these are both plentiful right now and very good to eat. mmmmmmmm..... oysters. yum. (that's what those are, right?) I've picked and eaten those ..... and their smaller cousins, "angel wings" ..... and chantrelles.... and boletes.... and shrimp .... and coral. Never have been able to find in the woods, though.. sigh. Sooner or later.... happy mushroom hunting, all!! Quote
snoboy Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Never have been able to find in the woods, though.. sigh. Sooner or later.... Hint hint, try not looking in the woods. Quote
sobo Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 When I lived in Houston, we used to go out to the cow pastures right after a big rain. We picked all we wanted, and we got all we wanted. Did I mention that we got everything that we wanted? Snoboy's right, you're looking in all the wrong places. Quote
Double_E Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Never have been able to find in the woods, though.. sigh. Sooner or later.... Hint hint, try not looking in the woods. Hint, hint, there's more types of out there than just cubensis, young grasshopper. Quote
