Peter_Puget
A 2004 study by researchers at Indiana University in Bloomington found that chocolate milk is "as good or better" than conventional sports drinks such as Gatorade and Endurox R4 at replenishing depleted fluids and carbohydrates in hard-training athletes, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. According to the study's lead researcher, chocolate milk was "twice as effective as [Endurox]" and "just as effective as Gatorade" at restoring fluids and carbohydrates in elite cyclists. The researchers note that although chocolate milk is higher in calories than most sports drinks, it is also higher in protein and provides a "slew of other healthful ingredients," such as calcium, riboflavin, and Vitamin D, which typically are not found in sports drinks. A spokesperson for the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center's Center for Sports Medicine notes that the higher caloric content should not present a problem for elite athletes, who often "fail to eat enough because they are too tired" and find that "drinking their nutrition is easier" (Smith, 10/5). Jim
My favorite yuppie sightings these days are folks running around Green Lake with those belts that hold containers of GU. Maybe it's really chocolate milk!
JayB
They probably drove SUV's to Greenlake to go jogging as well - you should kill them, or at least tag them with one of your climate change stickers.
jon
Researcher Jason Karp, a graduate student in exercise physiology said the key to recovery is getting carbohydrates. The study was funded by the Dairy and Nutrition Council Inc., but lead researcher Joel Stager got similar results earlier with master swimmers. Dru
Think about how much energy would be saved if you powered your computer off a stationary bike. Spray and exercise all in one! And drinking gallons of chocolate milk! But what if you're lactose intolerant?

I am willing to wager that a harangue by Jimbo reagarding the said hypocrisy could would result induce a self-inflicted mercy killing amongst any of the yuppies on the receiving end of the lecture.... magellan
But what if you're lactose intolerant? Soy chocolate milk. Same calories, more protein, plus the soy scrubs your arteries. Squeeze more beans!

Nah.. there's a strong inverse relationship to the use of such things and fitness.
