adventuregal Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Tell me - does Perkins have a wireless hotspot yet? Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Where is Mount Sqaumish? Don't laugh, it really would be an enormous mountain over there. For instance, Rib Mountain, a destination ski area: Quote
billcoe Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Cobra - you sidestepped Chaps question. Interesting eh? bill Quote
knelson Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 OK. so you have a few other mountains, big deal. Where is Mount Sqaumish? Be nice folks - don't you see he's poking fun at Bill's misspelling? Maybe. Perhaps. Quote
Chaps Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Ya, I figured it out the spelling error. Mount Squamish is in Canada. I would love to climb there. What route do you usually go up? Looks like there is quite a few ways. Quote
slothrop Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Well, I usually start with a traverse from Mount Vancouver, along the coast, past Furry Creek, and then climb the crack to the top. Quote
AlpineK Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 There is a town of Squamish but no Mt.Squamish. Quote
knelson Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Well, I usually start with a traverse from Mount Vancouver, along the coast, past Furry Creek, and then climb the crack to the top. The left or right crack? Quote
slothrop Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Uh, the left one. You're not from around here, are you? Quote
Chaps Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 There is a town of Squamish but no Mt.Squamish. What is the mountain called then? Quote
Dru Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 The left crack is guarded by a vicious burkshard. Quote
knelson Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 The left crack is guarded by a vicious burkshard. ... wearing a Merkin. Quote
AlpineK Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Well, I usually start with a traverse from Mount Vancouver, along the coast, past Furry Creek, and then climb the crack to the top. Start in Mt. Seattle and do the I-5 traverse through Mt Everett, Mount Vernon, and Mt Bellingham. The crux move comes when crossing the scarry border pitch.... Quote
slothrop Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Kurt pretty much gave away the secret Mt. Squamish beta. Quote
Chaps Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 You guys are confusing me. I may be planning a trip out there to climb Mount Rainier and maybe I can climb this mountain near Squamish too. Send me a message if you would seriously climb there with me. No jokes! It looks really cool from the pictures. Thanks to Bill for posting them. Quote
AlpineK Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 From Minnesota your best bet to summiting Mt. Seattle would be the SeaTac route. Though if you have time you may like the scenic I-90 line. Quote
slothrop Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Holy crap, there are two of you! Oops. Squamish is cool. There are hundreds of routes just on "Mt. Squamish" (aka the Stawamus Chief), not to mention the dozens of other smaller crags. Quote
iain Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 SeaTac = mired in climbing permit fees and porter problems Quote
archenemy Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Be nice to Chaps. Dude, you take Deidre and let people climb through. But you have to earn your way. Before you go to Monolith Sqamich, you should go to Snow Creek here in WA (we are on the way anyhow) and lead Outer Space (refer to appropriate thread for beta). Take your time and enjoy yourself--that's what its all about. Quote
AlpineK Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Ok I'll be nice. Before you climb a route on Stawamus Chief you probably want to hang out at Smoke bluffs or some of the smaller craggs. What I do know about climbing in Minnesota is there isn't much in the way of crack climbing or multi pitch climbing. You'll need to work on both of those. Quote
