aLx_JustcliMbing Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Looking for a non-bulky, light weight, harness for glaciure use only. I was SOOOOOO close to buying the Black Diamond Alpine Bod even though it is 13.5 compaired to new misty mountain that weights in at 11 and some change, until i found out that they dont have a quick release leg loop hold up system!!! What the hell were they thinking when they designed this harness?!?!?! The misty mountain new alpine harness is too bulky so does anyone have a suggestion? Quote
foolscongress Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 find something that is cheap and will fit over all your clothing. you'll never notice 2 oz. of weight if it has the features you want. Quote

fern Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 the leg loops are held up by fastex buckles. Doesn't that count as quick release? http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/gear/rock/alpine_bod.php# Quote
kurthicks Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Trango Mountain Harness http://trango.com/prod.php?id=98 9oz! $35 Quote
Blake Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Camp xla 130.... 4.6 ounces. It wouldn't be comfy for hanging in, but for snow, glacier, and "just in case" times, it's the lightest thing going. Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Click here and scroll down to the Mammut - Alpine Lite harness I have this harness. I love it! It is simple, pretty light and sleek. I've done everything from Liberty Bell, Nesakwatch and Rainier in this thing. Love it! make sure to check the mammut sizing charts. Quote
Jedi Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Keep in mind that some people have more "padding" than others. I have a friend who found the Mammut harness uncomfortable after a day of semi-hanging belays and rappels. I have to use a more padded harness because of my boney hips. Quote

This things fits and goes on and off over anything fast and easy. I recommend it! Quote

I have a friend who found the Mammut harness uncomfortable after a day of semi-hanging belays and rappels. I have to use a more padded harness because of my boney hips. It also depends on what your definition of uncomfortable is. A rap on a Dulfsitze (sp?) IS uncomfortable! Even rapping on a 1" webbing harness isn't that bad. My partner is pretty boney and wirery, he's never had a complaint. He reccommended the Mammut harness to me. Probably not the harness to crag in everyday. But with clothes on, you should be fine in a non-padded harness. For glacier travel, leave the padding at home. Quote
Alex Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 The Arcteryx Verro is a good compromise between lightweight, comfort, and versatility. Fully adjustable, padded. Quote
MtnNomad Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 (edited) (non-bulky, light weight, harness) I would check out the OZ 22 by Cilao . It weighs 100 grams! I just got one and it is the ultimate minimal harness. However not that much fun to hang in. www.cilao.com. Edited March 3, 2005 by MtnNomad Quote
aLx_JustcliMbing Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 Nope because the leg loop is connected to the waist loop with a biener. Can't get your pants down unless you take off the harness which i usually opt not to do on a glacier. Besides that takes way too long. the leg loops are held up by fastex buckles. aLx_JustcliMbing Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 This harness will be only used for glaciure so i am looking for minimal. I don't want some bulky thing in my pack as i do the approach. Just pisses me off. I have another harness for rock climbing. Quote
