Jim Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 ...almost have something in common. While working in my furniture class last night with small stock and a dado setup on the table saw, last class of the semester, last 10 minutes, I made a mistake. Luckily the cut did not reach the bone but did manage to cut halfway into the ring finger nail from the side. Ouch!!! So my question is: Will VW be kind enough to delay my 6 mo membership I just purchased last week for at least a month or will they play the vulture? Quote
thelawgoddess Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 OUCH!!! hope your finger's feeling better soon ... Quote
dbb Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 as I recall VW will let you defer your membership for like 2-3 months Quote
Squid Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Apparently, losing those excess grams is KEY sending the hard shit. Get well soon! Quote
Jim Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 One less bag of M&Ms would have been easier. Quote
bigwalling Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 I just went into the gym today and they were like "you haven't been here in 162 days". HAHAHA Quote
Luna Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Sounds like it is a pain but certaainly could have been worse. Heal up dude. Quote
icegirl Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 HAH! they did that same thing to me... You've not been here for _____ days... I laughed. Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 As heard on NPR. Table Saw Technology Aims to Save Fingers. Quote
bigwalling Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 HAH! they did that same thing to me... You've not been here for _____ days... I laughed. Ya, the best part is I didn't even end up climbing! They had no bouldering open because of remodeling. Quote
Jim Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 As heard on NPR. Table Saw Technology Aims to Save Fingers. Heard this too, how ironic. VW did delay my membership foe a month though they made it clear they don't usually do this an they we're doing me a big favor. Dang it takes long to type now ----uhjhbg gfvdfer Quote
Steddy Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 fwiw, i was on call (ambulance) when a friend split his forefinger to the second knuckle when a counter top bucked. he had some remarkable surgery and is doing fine, but my reason for responding is that i subsequently learned from a trustworthy source that this technology to stop blades has been around for a while in the industrial sector. looks like the price is becoming more affordable ($800 for contractor saw - gulp) now and goss is making the technology available to other tool makers. you can check sawstop.com HOPE YOU'RE HEALING WELL!!! marylou Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I wonder why they are telling you that at the gym now. Isn't it better for business to NOT tell people they are paying for something they don't use? Quote
EWolfe Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 In 18 years of carpentry, I have cut the tips off BOTH my thumbs! Still got all the digits, though Quote
Jim Posted February 24, 2005 Author Posted February 24, 2005 Ouch!! It's a good day when you return with all digits in tact. My nail has about grown back but it's still a bit sensitive and will always look a bit odd - but I'll take it considering the alternatives. Still not done with the dang project. Quote
