sobo Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "run" to "hide." The only two higher levels in France are "surrender" and "collaborate." The raise was precipitated by the recent fire which destroyed one of France's white flag factories, disabling their military. catbirdseat Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 George Bush would be proud of you, Sobo. Quote
tomtom Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Well Duh. The French military is reportedly fighting to overthrow the government in the Ivory Coast. Quote
Doug Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 And in a related stopy, New Jersey has upgraded their terror alert to Lavender. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 You know why the French line their streets with trees? To provide shade for the German troops... Quote
cj001f Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 You know why the French line their streets with trees? They've cut done most of them in the past decade, because (and this is serious), they were killing too many drunk drivers. Quote

Somehow, I am not surprised. :-( Perhaps a more enlightened view would be that the trees are serving the purpose of evolutionary processes... Quote
Dr_Crash Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 The French do everything wrong: they have lots of vacation, climb and ski in the Alps, their women do not dress in baggy clothes, and they have good food. Damn. I don't know how we could survive there. drC Quote

JayB Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Dr. Crash is actually a long-haul trucker from Lubbock, Texas. He is just using the French accent as a ploy to get the chicks...... Quote

As long as it is working I don't know why I'd stop Oh, and don't you love the tree cutting to protect drunk (and bad) drivers? That is so funny. It was on the roads, mostly, not the streets (because then they're on curbs and speed limits are lower); many many deaths against a platane (too lazy to look for the English name). Maybe it's to help social security not pay for so many long-term disabilities drC Quote

klenke Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Here's one thing I know the French do wrong: restaurants. Why does it take five times as long to get the food served than any other country's fare? All French restaurants are the same: 1. Takes 10 minutes to be seated even when the restaurant is empty 2. Takes 20 minutes for the server to come around for the first time 3. Takes 10 more minutes to order 4. Takes 60 minutes for the food to be served 5. Takes 20 minutes past the end of eating for the dessert menu to come 6. Takes 20 minutes past the eating of the dessert for the server to bring the bill. Might as well stay for breakfast, you'll be there all night anyway. Quote
Dr_Crash Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Dude, if the service wasn't that slow, how could the French have 2 hours lunch breaks from work every day? drC Quote

Nothing wrong with passion is there? They also are more "free" than we are. They don't look to blame someone for every little thing that goes bad or wrong. They don't try to control everything. They don't legislate morality as much. It's called "laissez faire"; loosly translated to american as "let it be" or "shit happens". They'd rather make love than war. hmmmmm....existentialism...look it up! Quote
YonatonDaniyel Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 man, the french make good cheese.. Reblochon anyone?? or some Fromage? oh well.. they also make a lot of good terrorists too.. Quote
