rbw1966 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Any recommendations for a place in downtown seattle for brunch on Sunday? A place you would take your Mother (or in this case my Aunt and two vistors from Europe). Also, any recommendations on a classy place to have a drink downtown that affords great views? Thanks Quote
TeleRoss Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I think the Edgewater on the waterfront has a Sunday brunch. Otherwise, Salty's on Alki...killer views across the bay to downtown. their brunch food is better than their normal menu is...IMHO. Quote
fenderfour Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Anthony's Homeport has a good brunch menu. Portage Bay Cafe (Eastlake) also kicks some ass Quote
scott_harpell Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Anthony's is great for brunch. The space-needle sucks for food, but the view is great. Quote
rbw1966 Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 Yeah--and it costs $20 bucks just to ride up the damn thing. Thanks for all the suggestions. Quote
rbw1966 Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 According to the person answering the phone at Anthony's they do not serve brunch--only lunch and dinner. Quote
fenderfour Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 (edited) Those bastards! I seem to remember brunch is only on Sunday at Anthony's. Edited October 19, 2004 by fenderfour Quote
chucK Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Palisade in Magnolia will work for both requests. It's over in Magnolia, so the view is of downtown Seattle (which will be OK even if crappy weather). If the weather is nice, you get a big Rainier view too. Anthony's is a good "drink with a view" suggestion as long as the weather is good enough to be able to see the Olympics (and it's not nightime ). Quote
dkemp Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Dude, Lowells in Pike Place Market is great for brunch. Food is okay, view is awesome, location right there in the market. Pike Place Market dining guide - then click Lowells Another great brunch place for auntie is Chinooks at Fishermans Terminal. But you asked for downtown, so I digress. Quote

iain Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 screw it, just get a bunch of apple pies and hotcakes at McD's and go sit on the pier. Quote
ScottP Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I'll second Pallisade. Macadamia nut pancakes as an appetizer. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 ivar's salmon house over on lake union does a nice sunday brunch ... lotsa food, invasive northwest "native" decor, water view. it's not downtown seattle but i think your visitors would really enjoy it. Quote

snugtop Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Macrena's Bakery on 2nd Ave & Wall has a yummy brunch. Quote
